About

This site is the new version of American Buddhist Net, which was online for a few years and went off line about a year ago.

The focus of this new site will be Buddhism and the practice of Buddhism through Functional Interpersonal Meta Linguistics (FIML). FIML can be done by non-Buddhists, but Buddhist practice will be a great aid to it.

We hope that FIML will help Buddhists by providing them with a tool to work actively with close friends or spouses in areas of their lives that are not easily accessed by the traditional Buddhist practices of meditation and quietism.

This site is geared to native English speakers because that is what we are, but anyone can use it and we hope profit from it.

Non-Buddhists who want to do FIML practice would do well to understand some of the foundational ideas of Buddhism. These include the Five Precepts, mindfulness, meditation, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Four Noble Truths, and the concepts of emptiness, impermanence, and dependent origination.

This site is affiliated with the Center for American Buddhist Practice.
