Phnom Penh Post Police Blotter: 30 October 2009

...Police in Banteay Meanchey province say they have seized 33 different kinds of weapons from “gangsters” over the course of a two-year crackdown. The weapons seized by police are said to include machetes, axes, hammers and samurai swords. Police have complained that the violent behaviour of gangsters perpetually creates “chaos in society”, and they cited the recent arrest of 12 gangsters last week after they were caught brawling during a Buddhist ceremony. Police said the dozen hoodlums were eventually released to their parents after undergoing “education”.
