Sri Lanka: Buddhism hijacked?

Sri Lanka is touted as being a great Buddhist nation. Driving around Sri Lanka the only markers surpassing the sites of all the temples and dagobas are the posters of the president. Every “patriot” sees the need to prove their credentials by showing that they are the only true Sinhala Buddhists.

...Then we have Buddhist priests on television and radio, backing the president, asking the people to vote for this government, actually daring to state that this government is an honest government and that there is no corruption or intimidation. How could they lie so blatantly, how could they look people in the face and pretend that the people are better off? These priests are distorting the truth.
