PETALING JAYA: Farmers in cyclone-hit Myanmar are starting life over and have returned to planting padi.

To jumpstart their effort, they have received fertiliser from Tzu-Chi volunteers for their crops, which they hope to harvest in October.

“I see hope in Myanmar. They are recovering,” said Hsieh Ching Kuei, head of the Myanmar relief aid under the Taiwan-based Tzu-Chi.

Hsieh shared the latest development in Myanmar with Tzu-Chi volunteers at the Kuala Lumpur branch of the Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia recently during a stopover in Malaysia on his way back to Taipei from Myanmar.
