Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta: Setting in Motion the Wheel of Truth

Thus have I heard:

On one occasion the Blessed One was living in the Deer Park at Isipatana (the Resort of Seers) near Varanasi (Benares). Then he addressed the group of five monks (bhikkhus):

“Monks, these two extremes ought not to be practiced by one who has gone forth from the household life. (What are the two?) There is addiction to indulgence of sense-pleasures, which is low, coarse, the way of ordinary people, unworthy, and unprofitable; and there is addiction to self-mortification, which is painful, unworthy, and unprofitable.

“Avoiding both these extremes, the Tathagata has realized the Middle Path; it gives vision, gives knowledge, and leads to calm, to insight, to enlightenment and to Nibbana. And what is that Middle Path realized by the Tathagata? It is the Noble Eightfold path, and nothing else, namely: right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness and right samadhi. This is the Middle Path realized by the Tathagata which gives vision, which gives knowledge, and leads to calm, to insight, to enlightenment, and to Nibbana.

“The Noble Truth of Suffering (dukkha), monks, is this: Birth is suffering, aging is suffering, sickness is suffering, death is suffering, association with the unpleasant is suffering, dissociation from the pleasant is suffering, not to receive what one desires is suffering — in brief the five aggregates subject to grasping are suffering.

“The Noble Truth of the Origin (cause) of Suffering is this: It is this craving (thirst) which produces re-becoming (rebirth) accompanied by passionate greed, and finding fresh delight now here, and now there, namely craving for sense pleasure, craving for existence and craving for non-existence (self-annihilation).

“The Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering is this: It is the complete cessation of that very craving, giving it up, relinquishing it, liberating oneself from it, and detaching oneself from it.

“The Noble Truth of the Path Leading to the Cessation of Suffering is this: It is the Noble Eightfold Path, and nothing else, namely: right understanding, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration.

(I have taken the liberty of changing the translation of three of the elements of the Noble Eightfold Path. Of those three, I believe right samadhi is the most important. When samadhi is translated as concentration, it communicates poorly. Samadhi is the profound subjective experience of ‘ultimate reality’ or ‘Buddha nature’ or ‘cosmic consciousness’. Right samadhi is the subjective meditative experience that ties all of the Buddha’s teachings together. ABN)

Vatican declares gender-affirming surgeries and surrogacy are grave violations of human dignity

VATICAN CITY — The Vatican on Monday declared gender-affirming surgery and surrogacy as grave violations of human dignity, putting them on par with abortion and euthanasia as practices that it said reject God’s plan for human life.

The Vatican’s doctrine office issued “Infinite Dignity,” a 20-page declaration that has been in the works for five years. After substantial revision in recent months, it was approved March 25 by Pope Francis, who ordered its publication.

From a pope who has made outreach to the LGBTQ+ community a hallmark of his papacy, the document was received as a setback, albeit predictable, by trans Catholics. But its message was also consistent with the Argentine Jesuit’s long-standing belief that while trans people should be welcomed in the church, so-called “gender ideologies” should not.

In its most eagerly anticipated section, the Vatican repeated its rejection of “gender theory,” or the idea that one’s biological sex can change. It said God created man and woman as biologically different, separate beings, and said people must not tinker with that or try to “make oneself God.”

“It follows that any sex-change intervention, as a rule, risks threatening the unique dignity the person has received from the moment of conception,” the document said.

This video details how Birx screwed USA and president Trump. It is framed as a diabolical incompetence and arrogance theory with enormous weight placed on Birx’s role, which was awful. But is that the whole story? Why did the diabolical plot continue and get even worse when the vaxxes came to market? Wasn’t the DOD and NSA in full control behind the scenes? How about the PREP Act, harmful hospital protocols, banning early treatments? This video provides an important angle on what happened and is well-worth viewing, but it must be only one part of a more complex story. Somebody had to be handling Birx, more than one person, some group. Who were they? Who is running the country right now? That is the answer. ABN

Canadian Government Plans ‘Stalinist Show Trial’ of Dr Charles Hoffe

Prominent Canadian physician  Dr. Charles Hoffe has spoken out courageously to warn people of the very serious dangers of the Covid mRNA genetic “vaccines”.  He now faces trial from the Canadian health authorities aiming to silence him and effectively destroy his medical practice.

What is most disturbing about this unprecedented case is that, if the prosecution gets its way, all the evidence produced by the State claiming the Covid vaccines are “safe and effective” will be deemed indisputable, irrefutable—and Dr. Hoffe would not be able to defend himself or call expert witnesses!

The Bibliography for an Alternative Historical Narrative — Ron Unz

Over the last dozen years I’ve published more than two hundred major articles totaling well over a million words, with the bulk of these having been produced during the last six years and roughly two-thirds of them included in my American Pravda series.

Most of these individual pieces have developed or promoted analyses of events that are radically divergent from what is presented by our mainstream media and standard history books. Taken a whole, this body of work constitutes a sweeping historical counter-narrative, possibly larger and more extensive that what could be found elsewhere on the Internet, or at least I’m not aware of anything comparable.

This enormous creation has relied very heavily upon the previous work of numerous researchers and writers. These have ranged from the most highly-credentialed and respectable figures to individuals of the conspiratorial fringe, and those two categories have sometimes changed places over the decades.

Although the sources I used were always cited, quoted, and linked in the individual articles, over the years many readers have requested that I provide a complete bibliography. Given that my own work has depended so heavily on this underlying material, I have now done that, spending several days gathering together all of these references into a single comprehensive bibliography, while also adding bibliographic links nears the bottom of each individual article.

Listed below are well over 600 books plus a couple of dozen films, documentaries, and major videos, all grouped by article in chronological order. Given this display format, probably about one-third of these items are duplicates.

Nearly all my articles are available in a couple of dozen freely downloadable ebooks, about half of them representing collections, and these are also listed below. About a dozen of these collections are available in hard-copy format from Amazon.

You definitely want to bookmark this one. It’s a large compendium of Unz’s work, almost all of which is well-worth reading. I do not always agree with Ron (he took the covid vax and dissed those who didn’t), but he is always worth reading and usually provides a unique perspective on whatever the issue is. I also like that he gives his work away and does not overly hype it. ABN

A Good Description of Right Samadhi, the Eighth Element of the Noble Eightfold Path

Buddhist philosophy and practice is founded on samadhi states, which might be described as the doors which open to the temple of Deepest Reality. Samadhi states are available to all people. They are the experiential part of Buddhism. They have to be experienced to make sense, and once experienced all of Buddhism will make sense.

Western civilization has almost no traditional awareness of samadhi. We have scores of philosophers and religious thinkers, but no samadhi. It is a glaring omission, one that has led us astray in many ways. Fortunately, today more people are beginning to see what samadhi states are, as Theise illustrates. Be sure to watch the whole clip as it will provide context to what he says about samadhi.

Buddhism is sort of implicitly ‘panpsychist’ or based on consciousness as a primary aspect of reality. Mind Only or Yogacara Buddhism makes this claim more explicitly. Samadhi is beautiful, joyful, wonderful. It will change you very deeply for the better or make you realize you don’t need to be changed at all. ABN

Quebec man has two healthy fingers amputated to relieve ‘body integrity dysphoria’

Ever since he was a child he’d had “incessant,” intrusive thoughts about his left hand’s fourth and fifth fingers, the sensation that they weren’t his, that they didn’t belong to his body. At night, he’d wake from nightmares that his fingers were burning or rotting.

The young Quebec man was so desperate to get rid of his fingers he contemplated building a small, makeshift guillotine. “He couldn’t imagine himself living for the years to come with those fingers,” according to a recently published case report.

Instead, a surgeon at his local hospital agreed to an elective amputation in what is being called the first described case of “digits amputation” for body integrity dysphoria, or BID, a rare and complex condition characterized by an intense desire to amputate a perfectly healthy body part, such as an arm or a leg.

The Quebec case involved an ambidextrous 20-year-old whose attempts at “non-invasive” relief, including cognitive behavioural therapy, Prozac-like antidepressants and exposure therapy, only increased his distress.
