Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent continues on two domestic financial approaches to block banking services for illegal aliens and simultaneously target use of the financial system by those engaged in fraud of the U.S. government.
Secretary Bessent has extended the Geographic Targeting Order (GTO) within Minnesota that covers two counties, Hennepin and Ramsey.
All financial transactions over a $3,000 limit are subject to increased reporting requirements and scrutiny from the U.S. treasury. {citation}
The measure is intended to identify any person who attempts to transfer funds obtained by fraud who operate in the region to take advantage of HHS funding programs. “Treasury promised to follow the money, and that is exactly what we are doing,” said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. “We will continue to give law enforcement critical tools to trace criminal networks that siphon taxpayer dollars and move them overseas. The Trump Administration will not allow criminals to profit from programs intended to help vulnerable Americans.”
Bessent is now giving banks and payroll companies additional guidelines and rules to ensure that illegal aliens are not exploiting the U.S. banking system. Bessent is following a path that is predicted to eventually require banks to verify legal citizenship or legal status. The guidelines are the first steps toward that process.

President Donald Trump signed two executive actions on Thursday to crack down on ‘birth tourism’ in the US and to restrict citizenship from being granted to the children of foreign diplomats.
Birth tourism is a practice where pregnant mothers travel to the states to give birth and ensure their children are granted US citizenship.
‘They’re buying their way in, and we’re not going to let it happen,’ Trump said in the Oval Office, announcing the new policies.
‘We’re making adjustments because it’s very unfair,’ the President said of the practice.
TOKYO (Kyodo) — The number of Japanese nationals fell below 120 million for the first time in 42 years to 119,736,483 at the start of this year, the government said Wednesday, underscoring the challenges faced by a nation battling declining birth rates.
The figure as of Jan. 1 showed a drop of 917,000 people from a year earlier, the largest fall since comparable data became available in 1968, according to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
The number of foreign residents, meanwhile, rose 354,000 to a record 4,031,159. The ministry began compiling relevant data in 2013.
Despite government efforts to reverse the declining birth trend, the country recorded around 670,000 births, a record low, compared with around 1.59 million deaths.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz revealed Tuesday that federal investigators have found widespread irregularities in Maine’s support services for adults with autism.
Speaking Tuesday during a Department of Justice anti-fraud press conference in Philadelphia, Oz said investigators have found that 90 percent of autism services provided by the blue state lacked justification.
“Yesterday I was in Maine,” Oz said. “We’re investigating home support services, just like you’re seeing here, for adults, in that case, who have autism.”
“We have massive increases that have grown to the kinds of numbers you could not imagine being able to show on a clipboard, with 90 percent of services billed and paid for—in Maine in particular—where there is no justifiable backup for it,” Oz said. “Nine out of ten services, you can’t justify they should have happened. It’s the opposite of what you’d normally expect.”
An interesting story, that’s not too easy to find out about, indicates New Jersey has quietly taken down their state voter system for unknown reasons.
According to NJ 101.5 the various county election offices were caught off guard with a notice that simply said, “Please be advised that the NJ SVRS Production environment will be inaccessible through Tuesday,” KNOWiNK said.
“Please keep this in mind for scheduling purposes. You will be notified when the system becomes available. If there are changes to the timeline, a new update will be distributed.”
Last month the governor admitted 6,600 non-citizens were registered to vote in a single year from 2023 to 2024 {citation}. No one is quite sure how many illegal aliens are registered in total, but the number is likely much higher. Perhaps the reason for taking down the system is related to this issue.
In a completely separate datapoint, the New Jersey Globe reported that 75,000 illegal aliens were summoned for jury duty.
About 75,000 noncitizens are summoned for jury duty in New Jersey each year, based on data from three state government agencies, including the Motor Vehicle Commission — a stunning figure that widens the scope of a growing controversy over government databases that may incorrectly identify noncitizens as eligible voters and jurors. {citation}
The 75,000 illegal aliens summoned were from a total of around 1 million sent jury duty notifications. There are currently 6.6 million registered voters in New Jersey. If the calculation is applied that means up to 495,000 registered voters are noncitizens or illegal aliens.
