The Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, sums up the European position: “The decision by the U.S. to impose travel restrictions on European citizens and officials is unacceptable and an attempt to challenge our sovereignty. Europe will keep defending its values — freedom of expression, fair digital rules, and the right to regulate our own space.”

Officials in Maine have suspended state Medicaid payments to a Somali-run charity after more than a million dollars in possible fraud was discovered in several audits of the charity’s services.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has cancelled MaineCare payments to Gateway Community Services after the audits found that the charity over billed the state for $1,068,598 from March 2021 through December 2022. The cash was supposedly to cover the costs of “interpreting services” to Somali migrants, the Bangor Daily News reported.
This same organization has been under investigation before. Gateway reportedly overbilled for more than $600,000 between 2015 and 2018, and is still under a cloud of suspicion for other violations found during a third state audit completed in 2024.

The reality is individuals, even at or near the top, do not have much power over how the global/Western political system works.
Everyone at or near the top is enmeshed in circles of people, money, and power.
When power in the system is applied, as in Gaza, I doubt Thiel has any say in how his products are used.
A good analogy for how political power works is in the video below, which describes how big banks and huge funds have entirely captured not just the world’s money supply but also what money even is.
The only way we the plebs can affect any of this is make our views known. We have a weak position but our opinions do matter.
My sense is Thiel is not evil. His embarrassment and fumbling are likely symptoms of his knowing the slaughter in Gaza is horrible and he is powerless.
Many people, myself included, do not even want to participate in the system since it strongly feels like making a pact with the devil.

Government debt explained; and why the whole world is trapped
About 15 people were injured in a stabbing spree at the Yokohama Rubber factory in Mishima city in Shizuoka prefecture, Japan, on Friday, according to the fire department.
According to the police, the man, who is believed to have stabbed the victims, has been detained and arrested on the spot for suspicion of murder, the Sankei Shinbun reported.
The suspect self-identified as Masaki Koyama, 38, and is believed to be a resident of the factory.
The incident occurred around 4:30 pm local time. A call was made to emergency number 119, reporting that “five of six people were stabbed by someone” at the rubber factory. A “spray-like liquid” was also used on the victims. The liquid is reportedly ‘chlorine bleach, ‘ news site Aashi Newspaper reported.
Koyama was carrying a survival knife and wearing a gas mask during the stabbing.

Probably the worst blunder in world geopolitical history, particularly Western geopolitical history. Not allying with Russia and then pushing NATO encroachments on Russia, followed by the Maidan color-revolution (done by USA), followed by insisting Ukraine join NATO puts the entire blame for this major failure on USA, no matter what bs the Europeans were also slinging.
