Chabad, a major Hasidic Jewish movement. Chabad, also known as Lubavitch, is a prominent branch of Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) Judaism that emphasizes intellectual study, outreach, and global engagement.

• Origin: Founded in 1775 by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi in Liozno (modern-day Belarus), Chabad takes its name from the Hebrew acronym Chokmah (Wisdom), Binah (Understanding), and Da’at (Knowledge)—reflecting its focus on rational mysticism and Torah scholarship.
• Global Presence: Under the leadership of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson (the “Rebbe”), who led from 1951 to 1994, Chabad expanded rapidly, establishing over 3,500 institutions in more than 100 countries, including Chabad Houses on college campuses and in remote cities.
• Outreach Focus: Unlike many insular Hasidic groups, Chabad is known for its active outreach to unaffiliated and non-observant Jews, offering free services, holiday celebrations, educational programs, and support.
• Controversial Beliefs: After Schneerson’s death in 1994, a significant minority of followers believe he was the Messiah—a belief known as Chabad messianism, which remains a point of internal and external debate.
• Notable Figures: The movement has been shaped by influential leaders like the “Old Rebbe” (Shneur Zalman) and the “Rebbe” (Schneerson), whose legacy continues to influence global Jewish life.

The Third Temple refers to a hypothetical future temple in Jerusalem that would replace the First and Second Temples, both of which were destroyed—first by the Babylonians in 587 BCE and then by the Romans in 70 CE. It is a central aspiration in Judaism, particularly among Orthodox and some Messianic Jewish communities, who view its construction as a key sign of the coming Messianic Age. 

According to Jewish tradition, the Third Temple will be built on the Temple Mount, a site sacred to both Jews and Muslims.  This location is currently home to the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque, making it one of the most contested religious and political sites in the world.
