The man and woman, approximately 30-55 years old and 18-25 years old, respectively, were buried in the same kurgan, richly furnished with grave goods. Morphologically, the two individuals differed: the man displayed a mix of Caucasoid and East Asian traits, with a stronger leaning toward Caucasoid features, similar to other cranial remains from this set, and was likely of local Pazyryk Iranic Scythian elite origin. In contrast, the woman exhibited more pronounced East Eurasian features. Individuals with such traits appear in both common and elite burials, such as at the Ak-Alakha-3/5 cemetery. Archaeologists and anthropologists have speculated that the female outlier may have been incorporated into the elite stratum of Pazyryk society and is possibly associated with the Korgantas culture.
Both skeletons show evidence of post-mortem trepanation. The male skull bore an irregular perforation resulting from blunt trauma, later refined with a sharp tool. The female skull exhibited a rectangular perforation (64 × 35.8 mm) with cut marks, along with the excised fragment (42 × 33 mm), suggesting a deliberate opening after death, likely as part of the mummification process.
Cranial measurements indicate that the man had a medium-large cranial length of 185 mm, a medium-large cranial width of 147 mm, and a large cheek width of 139 mm. The woman had a large cranial length of 182 mm, a medium-large cranial width of 143 mm, and a large cheek width of 135 mm (Kitov, 2023).
The findings demonstrate that the amygdala can be influenced by even high-level facial information before that information is consciously perceived, suggesting that the amygdala’s processing of social cues in the absence of awareness may be more extensive than previously described.
Note that all important phrase “…before that information is consciously perceived.”
The five skandhas are form, sensation, perception, activity, consciousness. A form can arise in the mind or outside of the mind. This form gives rise to a sensation, which gives rise to perception, followed by activity (mental or physical), and lastly consciousness. In the Buddha’s explanation, the five skandhas occur one after the other, very rapidly. They are not a continuous stream but rather a series of discrete or discernible moments. A form arises or appears, then there is a sensation, then perception, then activity, then consciousness.
Advanced training in meditation and mindfulness is probably necessary for most people to be able to observe the five skandhas individually, as they are actually “firing,” but it can be done. A good deal of Buddhist practice is based on being able to do that.
Though all brain imaging studies must be taken as provisional since the technology is not completely reliable, they still are providing us with some very interesting information worth considering.
The amygdala study cited above seems to confirm that people form significant emotional reactions to faces without being conscious of their reactions at all. In Buddhist terms, their reactions are (or take place at) the second skandha—sensation.
The skandha of sensation is defined as a reaction to a form that is either positive, negative, or neutral. That is, in varying degrees, we are either attracted to, repulsed by, or neutral toward the form. In the amygdala study the form is the face that is flashed very briefly on a screen. The face appears so briefly, for just a few milliseconds, that it is not possible to actually “see” or be aware of having “seen” it.
I think it is fair to extrapolate from this study that we humans are forming sensations all the time without being aware of what we are doing. As the authors of the study say, the study “[suggests] that the amygdala’s processing of social cues in the absence of awareness may be more extensive than previously described.”
“…processing of social cues in the absence of awareness” is pretty good description of what the Buddha called delusion, especially if we realize that the delusions we “process” from forms arising outside of us are entwined with and not very different from delusions we process from forms arising within us.
The Buddha’s five skandha explanation, thus, provides a way to observe and analyze our minds to prevent our becoming deluded by the tug of sensations that happen in the “absence of awareness.”
These frauds are a major part of the Great Replacement communist1 takeover of USA, with similar malfeasance happening throughout the Western world.

Far out in the North Pacific, with no ship in sight, satellites have confirmed waves towering to about 35 meters high, roughly 115 feet. The event, linked to a powerful storm in December 2024 and analyzed this year, now ranks among the largest ocean waves ever measured from space.
Those waves were born in a megastorm known as Eddie. Using the SWOT satellite, researchers calculated a significant wave height of 19.7 meters, which is already enough to batter a large vessel. Inside that field, individual crests were estimated to climb beyond 35 meters (115 feet high) while the swell traveled almost 15,000 miles from the North Pacific, through the Drake Passage, into the tropical Atlantic.
For years, stories of “rogue waves” sounded like something from a ship’s log that no one could verify. Now satellites such as SWOT, Jason‑3 and Sentinel‑3 routinely send radar pulses toward the sea surface, measure the return time and reconstruct sea height and significant wave height along their orbits. Even a few centimeters of change show up in the data. A crest tens of meters above the surrounding sea stands out like a skyscraper on an empty plain.
Oceanographers define a rogue wave as one that rises to roughly twice the surrounding significant wave height. In an extreme sea where typical large waves reach about 14 meters, that means a crest around 28 meters. Eddie’s storm field went further. With a significant wave height near 20 meters and some crests near 35 meters, satellites have now documented rogue seas at a scale that older models only hinted at.
