Faster-than-light ‘warp speed’ interstellar travel now thought to be possible

In another example of how truth is often stranger than fiction, scientists have taken a significant step towards turning the sci-fi concept of “warp drives” into a feasible reality.

New research, led by Dr. Jared Fuchs from Applied Physics and published in the prestigious Classical and Quantum Gravity journal, presents a new solution to one of the long-standing challenges in realizing warp drive technology.

Applied Physics researchers identified a new way in which warp technology might one day be possible. The team introduced the concept of a “constant-velocity subluminal warp drive” aligned with the principles of relativity.

The new model eliminates the need for exotic energy, using instead a sophisticated blend of traditional and novel gravitational techniques to create a warp bubble that can transport objects at high speeds within the bounds of known physics.

“This study changes the conversation about warp drives,” said lead author Dr. Fuchs. “By demonstrating a first-of-its-kind model, we’ve shown that warp drives might not be relegated to science fiction.”

Ukrainian Streets Deserted as New Mobilization Hits

There isn’t one big development today, but a series of smaller but still relevant items to update on to keep things within scope as the overall picture continues to escalate in the war in Ukraine and elsewhere. So, this report will be a bit scattershot as I cover many topics.

The biggest news is that yesterday, May 18th, the Ukrainian new mobilization strictures officially and finally went into effect. This has resulted in a flood of videos showing deserted streets, with claims that men are now in hiding like never before.

The below compilation starts with Poltava, then progresses to other cities:

[see link below for video]

Additionally, Ukrainian truckers even staged a mass protest, blocking roads. It will be not only ‘interesting’ to see where this goes and how successful it is, but in fact this will be one of the critical bellwethers for Ukraine as a whole. We know that the manpower issue is paramount and the entire future of this war rests on how successful—or not—this mobilization will be.

In the coming months, after lowering the draft bar to 25 years, an additional 100 thousand men born in 1998-1999 will be called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During these years, 416,349 boys were born. About half of them are already abroad. Summon the remaining half.

Further, it obviously converges with the end of Zelensky’s legitimacy in only two days hence, which even big Western media co’s like Economist are now beginning to seed into the public consciousness for a reason. This is significant because if the ‘enhanced mobilization’ takes a wrong turn, Zelensky’s lack of legitimacy will present an easy, ready scapegoat, and things can escalate against him very quickly.

AI synopsis of High Plains Drifter with Clint Eastwood

High Plains Drifter is a 1973 American Western film directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. The movie follows a mysterious gunfighter, known only as “The Stranger” (Clint Eastwood), who rides into the small town of Lago, a mining community in the American West. The townspeople are initially wary of the Stranger, but after he guns down three outlaws who try to kill him, they begin to see him as a hero and hire him to defend them against a group of ruthless outlaws who are planning to attack the town.

As the Stranger becomes embroiled in the town’s affairs, he begins to uncover a web of corruption and deceit that threatens the very existence of the community. With his unique skills and mysterious past, the Stranger must use his wits and his guns to protect the town and its people from the outlaws and the corrupt officials who are working against them.

Throughout the film, the Stranger’s true identity and motivations remain unclear, adding to the sense of mystery and intrigue. The movie’s climax features a dramatic showdown between the Stranger and the outlaws, and the film’s ending is open to interpretation, leaving audiences to ponder the Stranger’s true nature and the fate of the town.

High Plains Drifter is a critically acclaimed film that explores themes of justice, morality, and the American West, and features Eastwood’s characteristic blend of action, suspense, and dry humor.

A comment on X from TES I saw this morning:

Since I often post links to TES’s work, I feel mildly compelled to post an answer to the above. From it and some of his other writings, I diagnosis a commonplace Western (mis)understanding of religion which entails seeing all of them as similar in important ways to the Abrahamics. There are literally thousands of competent Buddhist teachers who could disabuse TES of his wrong views if he would but ask. Since Buddhism is both complex and fundamentally a mind-to-mind and experiential body of knowledge, deeper understanding will take some time but it is there for the taking if he wants it. TES has been first-rate in his analyses of covid and frequently claims to have expert skills based on both his understanding of how to interpret real-world data and his experience in the real-world doing that. A good Buddhist teacher could be described in just that way. I have a great deal of respect for TES and will continue to post links to his work on covid and global warming and maybe some other stuff. ABN

UPDATE: I should add that TES has a way out since the Buddha himself asked that his teachings never be written down to prevent them from becoming ‘religious scriptures’ people worshipped without understanding. That said, in other places TES has displayed deep ignorance of Buddhism and lumped it together with other traditions in ways that are seriously misleading. Incidentally, for many years Buddhism was considered a philosophy in the West rather than a religion. American tax laws settled that argument. In truth, Buddhism is both a religion and a philosophy. It is the philosophical side of Buddhism that is most often misunderstood, not unlike how skepticism is often misunderstood. Moreover, ironically, it is highly likely skepticism has been influenced by Buddhism and vice versa. ABN

Report: 39 Secret Service Agents Demand Investigation into Biden’s Marxist DEI Policies Following Unusual Assault by Female Agent on Male Superior

Over three dozen agents from the U.S. Secret Service have called for an urgent congressional investigation into Joe Biden’s Marxist diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, Tampa Press reported.

These policies are undermining the agency’s effectiveness and posing a potential threat to national security, according to a petition that surfaced last week.

The petition, endorsed by at least 39 agents, was highlighted by Bloomberg White House correspondent Jennifer Jacobs on social media. It specifically calls out the administration’s DEI policies, suggesting they may be responsible for a string of incidents that reveal a concerning drop in operational readiness and possible bias in disciplinary practices.

“There’s a petition circulating inside the US Secret Service that flags concerns about “a number of recent Secret Service incidents indicative of inadequate training,” a double standard in disciplinary actions, and a vulnerability “to potential insider threats” that could pose a risk to US nat sec. It was first shared Monday, I’m told, and has 39 signatures so far. Aim is to call for a congressional investigation, petition says,” Jacobs wrote.

DC Uniparty moving in on cryptocurrency

On the issue of crypto currency, watch the DC voices very closely.

They are about to take up legislation on the topic of crypto currency, regulation and overall ramifications therein.  Keeping in mind that a dollar-based Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) cannot and will not coexist within a financial system that permits the transition (the exchange) of dollars into crypto and vice-versa.

Put simply, in the Western financial system, crypto currency cannot exist with a CBDC.  Duality of currency is possible outside the West, but not feasible, viable or possible given the political motivations behind the creation of the dollar-based CBDC.

…The five major banks, all of whom gain maximum benefit from the CBDC as transfer brokers, will join Jamie Dimon (JPMorgan) and decry crypto as the planet harming, energy intense, earth polluting system that is currently melting the ice caps. Meanwhile Greta Thunberg and Taylor Swift will assemble their perpetually depressed Gen-Z forces against BitCoin et al.

Just watch, the seeds of the nonsense are already planted.

The Yellow Zone is specifically constructed to begin using a dollar-based CBDC likely sometime after the 2024 election, with open tests in 2025 depending on the election outcome.  Even if Trump wins the ’24 U.S election, the bankers who control the rest of the yellow zone will continue implementation of the Dollar-Based Central Bank Digital Currency (DBCBDC) without direct USA participation (they will wait out Trump’s term).

‘We will have a Noah-style deluge, with oceans sloshing over the surface of the planet…’ —The Ethical Skeptic

Plain English Summary:

The accelerated climate warming over the last century was shown in 2023 to be in part coming from the oceans, and the core of the Earth. Abyssal oceans are heating faster than the shallower depths. Temperatures rise over sudden 3 -week heat plumes from below, not ambiently from above.

This heating signals the presence of, and comes as a result of, a weakening of the Earth core’s magnetic field. At a certain point the magnetic field will weaken to where the heavier parts of the Earth (Mantle+Crust) will take over our rotation, and it will spin like a gyroscope and not a magnet as it currently does.

When that happens we will have a Noah-style deluge, with oceans sloshing over the surface of the planet – the last time of which, was documented in the Epic of Gilgamesh, and left its clear marks on the Khafre Pyramid in Egypt.

Motorcycle industry Q1: Soft all over, with a firm adventurous middle

…Middleweight ADV bikes really are hot

Among adventure-touring bikes, it has seemed like most of the action in recent years has happened in the middleweight segment. The Aprilia Tuareg, the Yamaha Ténéré 700, and the Honda Transalp are just a few examples of excellent middleweights that have drawn new attention to the class. The stats back up that impression.

The MIC breaks down the adventure class into three displacement categories, and the 601-900 cc class is where the growth is happening, with sales up 13.1%. Meanwhile, sales were down 16.4% in the over 900 cc class and down 32.7% in the much smaller 600 cc and under class. Consumers really are migrating from the big adventure-touring motorcycles to the new middleweight entries that are lighter, less expensive, and still very versatile and capable. Sounds like a smart move to me.

U.S. motorcycle sales, which grew little in the decade between the financial crisis and COVID-19, and were then turned upside down by the disruptions of the pandemic, now appear to be returning to the stagnation and patterns we experienced before.

Trump Advisers Reveal Advance Planning to Deport 20M Illegal Aliens After Election

Illegal immigration and control over the nation’s borders will be one of the major issues in this fall’s elections, and a key aspect of that issue is the number of people who are present in the country today – and what should be done about them. Should he win reelection, former President Donald Trump is reportedly being advised to deport almost 20 million illegal aliens, in a project similar to the United Kingdom’s Rwanda policy:

Donald Trump’s allies are drawing up detailed proposals to implement the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s plans for an unprecedented immigration crackdown, including an effort that would deport asylum seekers to other countries, according to people involved in the effort.

A cadre of former Trump administration officials, Trump supporters and conservative immigration wonks are writing executive orders, policy memos and other documents in a bid to transform campaign rhetoric into policy. The goal, the people said, is to be ready on the first day of a Trump presidency to stem the flow of migrants across the U.S.-Mexico border, unwind President Biden’s immigration agenda and lay the groundwork for what the former president has said would be the largest mass deportation in U.S. history.

The UK’s Rwanda project has to do with the deportation of Rwandan immigrants from the UK, in which the British government plans to repatriate over 50,000 illegal immigrants.

California district agrees to pay $360K to teacher who refused to use students’ preferred pronouns

A school district in Riverside County will pay $360,000 to settle a suit by a former high school teacher who was fired after refusing, for what she described as religious reasons, to promise to call transgender students by their chosen pronouns or to keep their gender identity secret from their parents.

The Jurupa Valley Unified School District agreed Tuesday to pay $285,000 to former high school gym teacher Jessica Tapia and $75,000 to her lawyers at Advocates for Faith and Freedom, a conservative religious nonprofit. The settlement said it was not an admission of wrongdoing by district officials, but Tapia’s lawyers proclaimed a victory for religious rights.

Tapia “fought back to ensure her school district was held accountable and that no other teacher has to succumb to this type of discrimination,” said attorney Julianne Fleischer.

The Genetic Arms Race | How CRISPR and AI Destroy the World

This vid is a bit silly but it may be worth watching because vastly improved IVF technology is inevitable. And so are other forms of gene manipulation. Today, there are already many reports of women in China and India using Northern European gametes for IVF pregnancies. Given a choice, people will choose the best genes available for their offspring. The dawning age of ‘digital babies’, which will allow extensive gene selection, will profoundly change our sense of what our lineage, tribe, nation, heritage even is. I believe we can be hopeful about what is coming since new technologies will surely raise the IQs of people across the world. Higher intelligence generally leads to better ethical behavior. The main downside I see is higher intelligence can also result in more intelligent criminals, or worse, groups of more intelligent criminals, or politicians. ABN

UPDATE: Here’s another take on this topic. I do not see the harm in spreading good genes worldwide nor is it possible to stop this technology from spreading and improving. Given the choice, parents will opt for the best for their children. ABN

Vatican’s New Documents on Apparitions

Apparitions and extraordinary spiritual phenomena are not necessary for salvation, but they can be spiritually fruitful. A new document from the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF) attempts to guide bishops in preserving the spiritual fruit while not having to take a position on the supernatural integrity of the phenomena itself.

The document, entitled “Norms for Proceeding in the Discernment of Alleged Supernatural Phenomena,” replaces the procedures put in place by Pope St. Paul VI in 1978. The new norms and their introduction by Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, prefect of the DDF, make no mention of Medjugorje; however, it seems likely that the claimed apparitions there — which began soon after the 1978 norms, in 1981 — influenced the 2024 document. Medjugorje was addressed in the press conference presenting the document.

…The six options in the new norms are as follows. One can see how, over the last few decades, Medjugorje would have fallen into various of the new categories:

— Nihil Obstat: Without expressing any certainty about the supernatural authenticity of the phenomenon itself, many signs of the action of the Holy Spirit are acknowledged. The bishop is encouraged to appreciate the pastoral value and promote the dissemination of the phenomenon, including pilgrimages;

— Prae oculis habeatur: Although important positive signs are recognized, some aspects of confusion or potential risks are also perceived that require the diocesan bishop to engage in a careful discernment and dialogue with the recipients of a given spiritual experience. If there were writings or messages, doctrinal clarification might be necessary;

— Curatur: Various or significant critical elements are noted, but the phenomenon is already spread widely, and verifiable spiritual fruits are connected to it. Therefore, a ban that could upset the faithful is not recommended, but the local bishop is advised not to encourage the phenomenon;

— Sub mandato: The critical issues are not connected to the phenomenon itself but to its improper use by people or groups, such as undue financial gain or immoral acts. The Holy See entrusts the pastoral leadership of the specific place to the diocesan bishop or a delegate;

— Prohibetur et obstruatur (“prohibited and stopped”): Despite various positive elements, the critical issues and risks associated with this phenomenon appear to be very serious. The dicastery asks the local bishop to offer a catechesis that can help the faithful understand the reasons for the decision and reorient their legitimate spiritual concerns;

— Declaratio de non supernaturalitate: The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith authorizes the local bishop to declare that the phenomenon is found to be not supernatural, based on concrete facts and evidence, such as the confession of an alleged visionary or credible testimonies of fabrication of the phenomenon.

Under the previous norms it was difficult for a bishop to guide — much less encourage — the good fruit that he could see without also endorsing the entire phenomenon as being of supernatural origin. The new norms give the bishop more flexible categories in order to move more quickly, essential in the digital age of instant communication. A determination of supernatural origin could take years, even decades, in the past.
