He has been surprisingly good as Secretary of State. He is a good talker, straight to the point, does not pull punches. He appears to be doing what Trump wants him to do and doing it well. He is on-track for a strong presidential campaign in 2028. He also has this rope around his neck:
How he handles his handlers is a major sign of how he will govern USA. So far, he has walked the line reasonably well. He has removed student visa-holders for anti-Israeli and anti-Gaza massacre activities. BUT he has also repeatedly championed American free speech rights.
Free speech is our most important right. If all if us can agree on that, we have some chance of surviving technological totalitarianism.
In the real world where Rubio is a real player today and a real presidential candidate in future, these aspects of American politics and law must be kept in mind.
The Trump administration is collecting data on all Americans, and they are enlisting the data analysis company Palantir to do it.
The New York Timesreports that President Trump has enlisted the firm, founded by far-right billionaire Peter Thiel, to carry out his March executive order instructing government agencies to share data with each other. The order has increased fears that the government is putting together a database to wield surveillance powers over the American public.
Since then, the administration has been very quiet about these efforts, increasing suspicion. Meanwhile, Palantir has taken more than $113 million in government spending since Trump took office, from both existing contracts and new ones with the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. That number is expected to grow, especially given that the firm just won a new $795 million contract with the DOD last week.
Palantir is speaking with various other agencies across the federal government, including the Social Security Administration and the IRS, about buying its technology, according to the Times. Palantir’s Foundry tool, which analyzes and organizes data, is already being used at the DHS, the Department of Health and Human Services, and at least two other agencies, allowing the White House to compile data from different places.
This is an opinion piece, slanted toward privacy and against totalitarianism, but I do not see how anyone can stop data collection. Information about us is everywhere and easily gathered. It can be weaponized and probably will. How do you stop it? If USA does not do it, others will. Information knows no borders. This is another reason why we should do all we can to preserve free speech and support those who support it. Free speech and freedom of thought are all we have left to protect ourselves. Masses of free humans will become the only database that can stand up to AI and those who control it. ABN
This is the right response. Nothing will protect free speech more than all of us ignoring material like this and/or character aspersions used to silence or intimidate a critic. ABN
Since questioning the Holocaust is illegal in much of the West, all Western peoples are more or less morally obligated to question the Holocaust. This is how we the plebs can and must fight back against totalitarian mind-control perpetrated against us by the powers that be, however you conceive of them. It’s as simple as that. We do not all need to agree on exactly what happened but we can all roughly agree that whenever rational speech is made illegal something is deeply wrong. Our power lies in knowing that and acting on that in whichever ways are appropriate for us and not too scary (for whoever you are, for whatever reason). I mention fear because mind-control myths are typically backed by terror, fear of ostracism, fear of ridicule. Recall the stern threats against ‘antivaxxers’ who dared to question the conspicuously unproved ‘safe and effective’ covid vaxxes. By most of us simply refusing to take that vax or to continue taking that vax, its popularity has fallen to record lows and that myth has been busted. The basic strategy of all of us roughly agreeing on important topics is the only way we can prevent WW3 and increased totalitarianism throughout the West. In this vein, I encourage all readers of ABN to click on the link above and at least skim the material presented. ABN
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the Maine legislature to count the votes of a GOP lawmaker who was censured after she identified a transgender teen athlete in a viral social-media post.
The court majority sided with Rep. Laurel Libby, who filed an emergency appeal to restore her ability to vote while her lawsuit over the punishment plays out. There were two noted dissents, Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson.
The majority did not explain its reasoning, as is typical on the court’s emergency docket.
Note the date. By this time in late 2021, IVM was well-known in medical communities and even by the general public. There had been well over one year for doctors and government agencies to check on the efficacy of IVM and to research its extensive safety record. I tried buying IVM with a valid prescription in early 2021, but was denied by three pharmacists in my state, two of whom claimed they were ‘uncomfortable’ with the prescription, while the third said honestly that ‘word had come down from on high’ that if he filled the script, he would risk losing his license. I was eventually able to buy it through Amazon pharmacy. I hope RFK focuses on medical freedom for treatments like IVM. Or our freedom to refuse medical treatments like the dangerous covid vax. ABN
Free speech is now our most important right. 2A is not going to stop totalitarian mind-control. They already search and seize whatever they want. So far, though, we still have a fundamental right to free speech even if we can be isolated by algorithms. We want and need more but at least we have what we have. Eva has a prominent voice and is using it well. I urge everyone to use your freedom of speech. Say what you think not just online but to your friends and family, your neighbors. Wide-open toleration of strong opinions is the bloodstream of a free society, a real civilization. ABN
The revelation that University of Zurich researchers secretly deployed AI bots to manipulate Reddit users’ opinions should chill anyone who values authentic human discourse.
These weren’t merely passive observers—they were digital persuaders that analyzed users’ personal histories, fabricated identities, and crafted arguments specifically designed to change minds.
Most troubling?
They succeeded spectacularly—achieving persuasion rates six times higher than normal human interactions.
This experiment crossed critical ethical lines.
Without consent or disclosure, researchers unleashed bots that claimed to be rape victims, misrepresented religious teachings, and spread misinformation about controversial topics.
These digital ghosts generated over 1,500 comments, each precisely calibrated to exploit cognitive vulnerabilities of their human targets.
We’ve long worried about social media’s echo chambers.
But what happens when those chambers are deliberately infiltrated by increasingly sophisticated AI systems trained on the very platforms they’re manipulating?
Reddit’s recent data-sharing deal with OpenAI suggests we’re actively providing the training material for ever more persuasive digital manipulators.
Reddit moderators rightly condemned this unauthorized experiment, but their discovery came months after the damage was done.
How many other digital conversations are currently being shaped by invisible algorithmic hands?
I view Reddit fairly often. Started using it when it had very few users and you could easily get a post on the front page. AskScience was glorious back then as conversations would go on and on and there was very little bs. That was a long time ago. Today’s Reddit is mind-control totalitarian thought-slavery on virtually all major subjects. However, if you go to small subreddits, you can find very interesting material; subreddits on narcissism and other personality disorders; on aspects of culture such as parenting or marriage customs. I highly appreciate hearing authentic voices from around the world on topics like those and many more. That said, another thing you can see on Reddit is what looks to me like spontaneous hive-mind formation. These look real to me because they can form very quickly in subs that have nothing to do with politics. Tooafraidtoask is one example where this can happen. I encourage everyone to support free-speech on all platforms and use your free-speech yourself, use it often. Keep pushing the envelope wherever you are because widespread free-speech that people use is probably our only defense against a looming and probable computerized totalitarian nightmare. ABN
Ursula is pushing leftist ‘soft’ totalitarianism, wrapped in smarmy ‘morality’. What she wants is to control European minds by controlling what they can say and hear. At this juncture, as AI advances rapidly and security controls become increasingly omnipotent, we must insist on free speech, unrestricted free speech. Restricting speech based on bogus claims of ‘misinformation’ or ‘hate speech’ or whatever Ursula doesn’t like, serves only the totalitarians. With free speech on as many platforms as possible, the citizens of the West will constitute the only repository of information that can compete with AI. ABN
An interesting report from the U.K reflects British government officials who feel their legal position against ‘free speech’ in Great Britain is now part of the negotiations for President Trump’s tariffs. Essentially, the tariff discussion is encompassing more than just tariffs; if the nation does not support traditional freedoms and liberty, they could face stronger tariffs from the USA.
The messenger for this dynamic is not coincidentally Vice President JD Vance, who aligns closely with the tech platforms. The tech control agents are bitterly opposed to President Trump’s tariff position, and this nuance is quite possibly a way to give the tech platforms an ancillary benefit, vis-a-vis free speech support.
The tech industry is facing pressure from the EU and British government to censor and control information content on their platforms. By adding the importance of free speech to the leverage of tariff pressure, President Trump gives both Main Street companies and American Tech Titans something important to their business interests. This is both a smart and righteous approach.
This is an interesting take. If money and business wants it, it will happen. I am optimistic for free speech in the high-tech future. Notice how Jordan has crashed and burned with his anti-free speech pro-psychopath nonsense. How can you make ridiculous assertions when so many are able to answer? And by now, who is willing to not be able to answer? ABN
‘The best way to do it to say they’re lying, here’s the truth’ — Rubio on confronting the EU and UK on their censorship and phony ‘misinformation’ prosecutions. He makes very strong statements about protecting ordinary Americans from censorship at home and abroad. This is Rubio at his best. I hope he keeps going and delivers, which I believe he will. ABN
‘Mainstream newspapers and mainstream media report things as fact that are completely not true. Our approach to that is not to shut them down, not fine them. Our approach is to say they’re lying, here’s the truth.’ — Marco Rubio
Apparently the Q-anon ‘plan’ was never to root out the Deep State by preprogramming the population with lavish Biden Constitutional offenses; it was instead, to preprogram the population with lavish Biden Constitutional offenses to accept even worse Constitutional offenses under Trump. Trust the Plan was actually Trust the Reverse Plan; or more precisely, the Obverse Plan. Looks that way to me, at this point. Remember, Jewish Supremists saying nasty crazy stuff is nothing new. And so far, student visas are being revoked only for ‘making a ruckus’ and thus violating the terms of their privileged visas, according to Rubio. ABN
