UPDATE: This is long but you can jump ahead. I listened to maybe one-half of it, focusing on what I wanted. It provides a good view of what Trump and his people are doing and why, and how successful they are and expect to be in the future. Much better to listen to them instead of what media says about them; and necessary to do that at least sometimes. I believe Trump is the only president to ever hold cabinet meetings in public. ABN
President Trump hosted Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in the Oval Office and took questions from reporters on Thursday. The majority of the question from both the U.S. and Norwegian media encompass the current effort to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine.
One of the ceasefire ‘sticking points’ per se’, is that immediately following the breakout of the conflict the government of President Zelenskyy changed many of their constitutional rules to include the legal elimination of opposition parties in the country, removal of religion or faith-based social influence that runs counter to the Ukrainian Nazi mindset, the cessation of elections in Ukraine, and other “emergency measures” intended to assist the stability of Zelenskyy’s government as they entered a war footing.
The results of the legal changes and constitutional framework, which included non-recognition of any lost territory, is now being leveraged by Zelenskyy in negotiations for a ceasefire. President Zelenskyy is now saying the ceasefire terms proposed, which include accepting regional losses of geography to Russia, are not constitutionally possible and he has no power to agree to them.
In essence, Zelenskyy’s emergency government changed the constitutional power of the President, cemented a new constitutional status during war, and now says those previous changes make it impossible to accept proposed terms. This self-fulfilling creation, intentionally done with forethought for exactly this kind of current scenario, is the baseline for frustration toward the Ukraine position. President Trump notes this Ukraine position is frustrating, while thousands die weekly in the process. WATCH:
UPDATE: I do not consider Zelensky to be a Ukrainian or working for the benefit of Ukraine. Crimea is old Russian territory and vital to their access to the Black Sea. Much of Ukraine was always part of Russia, so a lot of the back and forth on territory lost or gained is, sadly, nonsense. Here is a map of languages spoken in the territory in question. It’s a very telling map and ridiculous to pretend the history of this region is not very Russian. Crimea was ‘given’ to Ukraine by Khrushchev at the stroke of a pen. Odessa became a Russian navy harbor in 1794 by decree of the Russian Empress, Catherine the Great. ABN

UPDATED: All American laws are ultimately pragmatic. This includes SCOTUS rulings on the Constitution as well as district prosecutors deciding how to work a case. Legal pragmatics include ethics and precedents, while also recognizing the urgency of, say, removing millions of illegal immigrants in USA. The legal remedy in this case properly must fit the crime, which was treasonous importation of millions of illegals. Sending a plane-load of violent illegals to El Salvador was a pragmatic decision as it removed some of the worst and also sends a strong message to others of their ilk to get out of the country. It’s a pragmatic application of the law. ‘Legal’ objections to it are absurd in the face of the massive offense (treason) and massive harm (tens of millions of illegals ushered in to USA under Biden). Below is an illustration of the problem. ABN

I get this sense from what he has done and said as well. He’s smart and will be a great ally if that is what he wants to be. In politics you want smart people who pursue good policies, nothing more or less. ABN
How does this same religion not only not oppose mass illegal immigration but actually supports and funds it? Mass illegal immigration without question causes increased crime, including murders of innocents. Moreover, mass migration in the numbers we are seeing throughout the West is causing civilizational murder. I believe their answer will be it’s God’s will that mass illegal immigration is happening; and thus the Church approves of Catholic immigration ‘charities’ that openly fund mass illegal immigration. Abrahamic religions and sects all have the same flaw — rigid adherence to supposed sacred texts with greatly varying interpretations of those texts and their applications. ABN
This video has better camera work from what I have seen:
Paul surely understands Trump MUST move as quickly as possible to accomplish urgent goals. I have come to despise Paul for his constant talking and never doing anything or his constant chirping against Trump. In a moment of national crisis, a small window of deep change has opened and Paul dithers over abstractions. All law and all moral principles are pragmatic at the national level. This is always and especially true in time of crisis. Gangs of ruthless illegals must go; USA has a debt crisis which must be fixed now; world trade has been imbalanced against USA since WW2 and now is the time to balance it. From a Buddhist POV, seize the day, use the real-world conditions we have to make real progress repairing and improving our country. ABN
The United States needs Greenland, whatever the cost.
US Vice President J.D. Vance reiterated this in an interview on Thursday evening local time on the Newsmax magazine program ‘Rob Schmitt Tonight’.
J.D. Vance emphasized the importance of the United States gaining control of Greenland with the phrase “come hell or high water”, which speaks of the importance of being able to control the Arctic region for the sake of American security.
The Vice President began by defending Donald Trump’s original statement about using military force, if necessary, to turn Greenland into an American resort.
Of course, the media is attacking what the president said, but there is a lot of common sense in it. This matters for our security, it matters for our missile defense, and we will protect the interests of the United States, no matter what.
The Trump/Vance position on Greenland is pragmatic politics and straight-up game theory. ABN
