The big question to be answered is whether or not President Xi of China will mention the massive amount of support and “blood” that The United States of America gave to China in order to help it to secure its FREEDOM from a very unfriendly foreign invader. Many Americans died in China’s quest for Victory and Glory. I hope that they are rightfully Honored and Remembered for their Bravery and Sacrifice! May President Xi and the wonderful people of China have a great and lasting day of celebration. China has immensely more reason to be grateful to USA than not. This includes not just the results of WW2 but also their receiving enormous amounts of American technology, knowhow, money, and good will since the 1980s. USA was not involved in the Opium Wars of the 19th Century; that was the Jewish Sassoon dynasty backed by the British Empire. I like the tone of Trump’s post. Gratitude toward USA and the West would go a long way toward healing this world. ABN

Former OpenAI researcher says a $10,000 monthly UBI will be ‘feasible’ with AI-enabled growth

Would you be interested in a $10,000 monthly check with no strings attached?

That’s a reality that former OpenAI researcher Miles Brundage said could be possible in the age of AI.

“I think that a significantly more generous UBI experiment than has been tried so far (say, $10k/month vs. $1k/month) would show big effects,” he wrote.

Brundage said this would be possible due to the impacts AI will have on the economy.

“In the near-term, I worry a lot about AI disrupting opportunities for people who desperately want work, but I think it’s simultaneously true that humanity should eventually remove the obligation to work for a living and that doing so is one of the strongest arguments for building AI and AGI in the first place,” Brundage wrote.

Brundage said our current systems aren’t prepared to address that reality right now.

“That is not something we’re prepared for politically, culturally, or otherwise, and needs to be part of the policy conversation. A naive shift toward a post-work world risks civilizational stagnation (see: WALL-E), and much more thought and debate about this is needed,” he said.

While the 885 fake websites were not established to influence public opinion, today, the U.S. government sponsors thousands of journalists worldwide for precisely this purpose. Earlier this year, the Trump administration’s decision to pause funding to USAID inadvertently exposed a network of more than 6,200 reporters working at nearly 1,000 news outlets or journalism organizations who were all quietly paid to promote pro-U.S. messaging in their countries.

Oksana Romanyuk, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Mass Information, warned that nearly 90% of her country’s media outlets rely on funding from USAID to survive. A survey of 20 leading media organizations in Belarus revealed that 60% of their budget came from Washington. In Iran, more than 30 anti-government groups came together for a crisis response meeting, while in Cuba and Nicaragua, anti-government press resorted to soliciting donations from readers.

The CIA has also successfully infiltrated the largest and most popular social media networks, giving the agency substantial control over what the world sees (and does not see) in their news feeds.

Facebook has hired dozens of former CIA officials to run its most sensitive operations. Perhaps the most notable of these individuals is Aaron Berman.

As the platform’s senior misinformation manager, Berman ultimately has the final say over what content is promoted and what is demoted or deleted from Facebook. Yet, until 2019, Berman was a high-ranking CIA officer, responsible for writing the president’s daily security brief. It was at that time that he jumped ship from Langley to Facebook, despite appearing to have little relevant professional experience.

Google, if anything, is even more saturated with former spies.

Nvidia warns of ‘disaster’ if it has to put kill switch and backdoor in chips

Nvidia said there are no backdoors or kill switches in its chips, denying an accusation from the Chinese government. The company also urged policymakers to reject proposals for backdoors and kill switches.

“There are no back doors in NVIDIA chips. No kill switches. No spyware. That’s not how trustworthy systems are built—and never will be,” Nvidia Chief Security Officer David Reber Jr. wrote in a blog post yesterday.

The Cyberspace Administration of China last week said it held a meeting with Nvidia over “serious security issues” in the company’s chips and claimed that US AI experts “revealed that Nvidia’s computing chips have location tracking and can remotely shut down the technology.”

The accusation is related to the H20 chip Nvidia made for the Chinese market to comply with US export restrictions. US lawmakers are meanwhile considering a Chip Security Act that would require exported chips to be built with “location verification.” The bill also calls for an assessment of mechanisms to stop unauthorized use—a proposal that critics say could lead to a “kill switch” like the kind that Nvidia wants to prevent.

An analogy using photography that illuminates human interpersonal communication

I mean no offense to anyone, not even the photographer, but this is an example of how bad normal photos were in the pre-cellphone camera days. It can serve as an analogy for how people communicate interpersonally before FIML. Before FIML, our communication will be restricted, unsophisticated, clunky, and though it may be expressive as in this photo, probably not what we meant or deeply wanted to say. You can see the people in this photo definitely do not do FIML: 1) because the technique had not been invented in 1970; and 2) because you can. It is my firm belief that when millions of people do FIML we will enter an age of really good communication, much better than today. Just as most people now having a good camera on them all the time has yielded a massive improvements in photography, so FIML will deeply improve the ways we speak and listen and feel about doing that. Cellphone cameras give us many opportunities to shoot good photos and lots of practice in how to make a good photo. FIML is not quite like a camera, but it is a kind of cerebral technology that results in partners communicating much better. When we understand the FIML technique and use it often, our communication will improve at least as much as photography has improved due to widespread use of cellphone cameras. ABN

China begins building world’s largest dam, fuelling fears in India

Chinese authorities have begun constructing what will be the world’s largest hydropower dam in Tibetan territory, in a project that has sparked concerns from India and Bangladesh.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang presided over a ceremony marking the start of construction on the Yarlung Tsangpo river on Saturday, according to local media.

The river flows through the Tibetan plateau. The project has attracted criticism for its potential impact on millions of Indians and Bangladeshis living downriver, as well as the surrounding environment and local Tibetans.

The dam is situated in the Yarlung Tsangpo canyon, said to be the world’s largest and deepest canyon on land

Beijing says the scheme, costing an estimated 1.2tn yuan ($167bn; £125bn), will prioritise ecological protection and boost local prosperity.

When completed, the project – also known as the Motuo Hydropower Station – will overtake the Three Gorges dam as the world’s largest, and could generate three times more energy.

Experts and officials have flagged concerns that the new dam would empower China to control or divert the trans-border Yarlung Tsangpo, which flows south into India’s Arunachal Pradesh and Assam states as well as Bangladesh, where it feeds into the Siang, Brahmaputra and Jamuna rivers.

China’s Next Generation Artillery Promises World Leading Performance: First Images Show SH16 in Field Trials

New images have for the first time confirmed that the Chinese SH16 155mm tracked self-propelled howitzer is undergoing field trials.

Images released on Chinese social media showing an unknown howitzer were widely reported to be the next generation system, which is expected to enter service before 2027, and may be formally unveiled at the People’s Liberation Army’s upcoming landmark military parade on September 3, 2025.

The system is expected to introduce a number of revolutionary new features, one of which is a modular unmanned turret that reduces crew requirements to just two personnel — one driver and one gunner/commander.

The vehicles are expected to combine high levels of automation with a focus on rapid redeployment capabilities and rapid sustained firing rates. 

The SH16’s is a comprehensive system that incorporates a turret with subsystems for firepower, information and control, while maintaining a turret weight of under 14 tons improve mobility.

With a barrel length that is 52 times its 155mm caliber, the howitzer’s range and accuracy are expected to be exceptional.
