Filing this one under “incompetence”. Our elite constitute a subculture of old money plus credentialed toadies plus assorted friends, all of whom have proved themselves to be out of touch with reality and not very smart. It has become so bad it appears their only move left is deliberate chaos through war, economic crash, maybe another virus, or all three. You can see the vapid incompetence almost wherever you look—Biden, Trudeau, Schwab, Disney, Fauci, etc. We may assume there is a more intelligent group behind these puppets but increasingly, I wonder.
