Gaza

The people of Gaza are arguably the most abused, debased and persecuted people in the world, in the history of the world. The only ‘moral’ argument against them is they should have left by now. One reason they haven’t left by now is no one wants them because their culture is completely broken.

It is obvious top people in Israel allowed the breaches of the wall and the massacres to happen. Since they had to have known, it is correct to say they Made It Happen On Purpose (MIHOP). MIHOP is a common ruse that can be found at the beginnings of almost all wars. Tonkin, WMD, Pearl Harbor, so on. It is the the rule, not the exception. Absent evidence of no MIHOP, it has to be assumed. When there is proof of MIHOP—absurd coincidences, unexplainable impossibilities—it is proved. It’s obvious. Only in the human realm would anyone dare twist around pretending otherwise or be capable of doing so or want to.

In Buddhism the Human Realm is characterized by suffering. Humans can become enlightened in this realm, but temptations are many and few do. Most humans succumb to greed, anger, ignorance, pride, violence, tribalism. And thus most humans are not reborn in the Human Realm. They go down not up.

The moral conundrum in Gaza today is agonizing. There is no simple or complex answer. It will not end well. It looks like yet another horrible step toward WW3 and global domination by whomever wins.

After that, almost all of us will be as Gazans today.

  1. The people of Gaza are certainly abused, debased, and persecuted, but resorting to the superlative “the most” is conjecture and cannot be proved one way or the other.

Totally agree with you re MIHOP. There is evidence that Netanyahu even gave an order to the IDF to stand down for several hours during the Hamas invasion.

“Most humans are not reborn into the human realm.” This is pure conjecture and cannot be proved one way or the other. However, an Indian spiritual leader (who by her actions over the past several decades has shown that she is either totally realized or a direct incarnation) was asked about a particularly devious individual being reborn as an animal. She and her Swami laughed. Her answer was simply that humans do not get reborn as animals.

Last but not least, your prognosis for our future is quite grim. While I agree that it MAY not end well, the statement “it WILL not end well” is again conjecture and cannot be proved one way or the other. Very few of us have a crystal ball, and for those who do, can it be said that what they see will ALWAYS come to pass?

I do appreciate your posts and I generally agree with every one. You’re very insightful and articulate. But this one seemed so grim, and definite regarding the grimness, that I felt compelled to reply and point out some possible alternative outcomes.

    Peace,

    1. I appreciate this and all of your comments. In a friendly way, let me explain.

‘The people of Gaza are arguably the most abused’ — ‘arguably’ is the qualifier

‘most humans are not reborn in the Human Realm. They go down not up.’ — that is Buddhist teaching

‘it will not end well’ — this is emphatic rhetoric which includes the possibility of a good outcome but strongly implies it is not likely

I did write very directly and strongly on this. much was left out to make the main point clear. I did this because Gaza is so damn sad and also because I believe those of us who see what is happening should speak clearly and firmly

your points are all good and I accept what you are saying and hope can see why I did it the way I did

      1. Thank you for the thoughtful reply. You are right, I missed the “arguably”. That is certainly a qualifier. Apologies for that. You’re also right that “it will not end well” is rhetoric that is often used, and of course the writer/speaker can’t be sure that that’s what will happen, but that phrase if often used to describe a situation that is very likely to not end well. Regarding rebirth, I appreciate your Buddhist perspective and did not know that that is a Buddhist teaching. I agree that most humans appear to be on a path that should/could lead to rebirth lower (although some might argue that there are certainly human rebirths that could be as bad or worse than being reborn as a non-human animal ;-)

The most important point, however, is something that we both agree on: The Gaza situation is incredibly sad, horrific even. It’s hard to me to even imagine how awful it would be to have been born into a family in Gaza. I believe you and I can think of ways to stop the suffering, but sadly the people in power in Israel refuse to accept those kinds of solutions.

Thanks again for your response. I do appreciate your posts. Keep up the good work!

        Greg
