MOSCOW, June 27. /TASS/. Argentina and Iran have applied for joining BRICS, an association of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Monday.
“While the White House was thinking what to disconnect, ban or spoil in the world, Argentina and Iran have applied for joining BRICS,” she wrote on her Telegram channel.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said earlier on Monday that Tehran has applied for BRICS membership.
Argentina’s President Alberto Fernandez said at a BRICS+ meeting last week that his country wants to become a full member of the association.

As noted by Malpass, if a shift in messaging and actual policy for energy and finance does not take place, the outcome will be bad for food production and government stability.
The World Bank president accurately states increased production is urgently needed to avoid global shortages. However, that increase in production is only possible if the leaders of the largest economies reverse their positions on energy development and finance. The world needs oil and natural gas production to increase dramatically in order to stave off food shortages. Unfortunately, those pragmatic recommendations are falling on deaf political ears. WATCH:

Britain’s new top general has told every serving soldier they must prepare to fight the Russian army in a potential World War Three.
General Sir Patrick Sanders has warned troops they must be ready “to fight in Europe once again” as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has led to a “new era of insecurity”.
According to The Sun, the warning came in his first speech since he became Chief of the General Staff this month, taking overall control of the British Army.

Lithuania Bans Transit Of Sanctioned Russian Goods To Kaliningrad
Lithuania has begun a ban on the rail transit of goods subject to European Union sanctions to the Russian far-western exclave of Kaliningrad, transport authorities in the Baltic nation said on June 18.
The EU sanctions list includes coal, metals, construction materials, and advanced technology.
Anton Alikhanov, the governor of the Russian oblast, said the ban would cover around 50 percent of the items that Kaliningrad imports.

Doubling-down on failed sanctions that are harming Europe, a tiny country pokes the Russian bear in the nose. I do not think this is a good idea. Who is behind this, I do not know. But this risks triggering a larger war, even WW3. If NATO/USA are not behind this dangerous provocation, they should step in and stop it. No good will come of this. US/EU sanctions have helped Russia and only harmed Europe. The NATO/US proxy war in Ukraine has been an abject failure and should have been avoided long before it began. I understand Lithuanian fear and dislike of Russia, but it is much smarter to accept the realities of today and put the past behind you. Europe and the Baltics should be striving for good relations with Russia not bad ones. ABN
