Epstein’s Private Calendar Reveals Prominent Names, Including CIA Chief, Goldman’s Top Lawyer

The nation’s spy chief, a longtime college president and top women in finance. The circle of people who associated with Jeffrey Epstein years after he was a convicted sex offender is wider than previously reported, according to a trove of documents that include his schedules.

William Burns, director of the Central Intelligence Agency since 2021, had three meetings scheduled with Epstein in 2014, when he was deputy secretary of state, the documents show. They first met in Washington and then Mr. Burns visited Epstein’s townhouse in Manhattan.

Kathryn Ruemmler, a White House counsel under President Barack Obama, had dozens of meetings with Epstein in the years after her White House service and before she became a top lawyer at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in 2020. He also planned for her to join a 2015 trip to Paris and a 2017 visit to Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean.

Leon Botstein, the president of Bard College, invited Epstein, who brought a group of young female guests, to the campus. Noam Chomsky, a professor, author and political activist, was scheduled to fly with Epstein to have dinner at Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse in 2015.

None of their names appear in Epstein’s now-public “black book” of contacts or in the public flight logs of passengers who traveled on his private jet. The documents show that Epstein arranged multiple meetings with each of them after he had served jail time in 2008 for a sex crime involving a teenage girl and was registered as a sex offender. The documents, which include thousands of pages of emails and schedules from 2013 to 2017, haven’t been previously reported.

US corporations cash in on Ukraine’s oil and gas

As Ukraine sells off public assets in a privatization spree, US fossil fuel corporations like ExxonMobil, Chevron, and Halliburton are in talks to run its oil and gas industry, and the IMF is imposing the Washington Consensus.

As the war in Ukraine drags on, the government is selling off state assets in a big privatization spree.

US fossil fuel corporations like ExxonMobil, Chevron, and Halliburton are participating in discussions to take over the Eastern European nation’s oil and gas industry, as Kiev pushes to increase production to replace Russian energy exports.

This comes soon after Ukraine’s Western-backed leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, sent a friendly video message to a US corporate lobby group, thanking companies like BlackRock, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and Starlink, and promising “big business” for others.

In September, Zelensky also symbolically opened the New York Stock Exchange, announcing that his country is “open for business”, offering more than $400 billion in “public-private partnerships, privatization, and private ventures” for US companies.

The Ukrainian government has used the war as an excuse to ram through some of the most aggressive anti-worker laws on Earth.

The director of the Kiev-based workers’ rights NGO Labor Initiatives warned of a “full-scale attack on Ukraine’s labour rights”, writing in a German government-funded journal that the “war cannot be used to justify stripping workers of their rights”.

Worth noting is almost all Ukrainians along with virtually all Eastern Europeans are descended from freed slaves. The so-called ‘Polish nobility’ instituted the psychopathic Arenda system, which was largely run by Jews. The largest ‘peasant’ (meaning slave/serf) uprising in European history occurred in 1648-57 in the southeastern part of the then Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which is now Ukrainian territory (or just was). The uprising was a manifestation from the fairly deep past of the ethnic and socioeconomic divisions that define much of Eastern Europe to this day. Ukrainians are still under the thumbs of someone else, including Jewish oligarchs and Russian soldiers. The article above describes the next chapter of someone else controlling Ukraine and getting most of the money. ABN

Excellent description of background to Ukraine War

.@ComicDaveSmith shocks @joerogan with a powerful rant about NATO expansion, the 2014 Ukraine coup, and how American policies led to the War in Ukraine, bringing us closer to a potential nuclear World War III:

“It’s not like it’s just Ron Paul, Noam Chomsky, and Pat Buchanan…

source

•Robert McNamara (Sec. of Defense)
•Robert Gates (Sec. of Defense)
•William Perry (Sec. of Defense)
•George Kennan (American diplomat)
•William Burns (CIA Director)

“They all opposed NATO expansion in the strongest possible language and all explicitly because this will provoke a conflict with Russia. There’s this great interview that George Kennan gave with Thomas Friedman from the New York Times in the 90s when they were doing the first round of NATO expansion, and he is furious… What are you guys doing? We won the Cold War. Now, you are picking a fight with Russia?

These aren’t the Soviets. These aren’t the communists. These are the heroes who overthrew them. Why are we picking a fight with them? He’s said, and this is a crazy prediction, really ominous. The people who are expanding NATO will keep expanding it and expanding it, and then there will be a Russian reaction, and then when theirs the Russian reaction, they are going to say, see, that’s proof that we have to keep on expanding it.”

Did the Neocons Save the World from the Thucydides Trap? — Ron Unz

Over the last couple of years I’d begun seeing our growing conflict with China described as an inevitable consequence of “the Thucydides trap” but hadn’t been entirely sure of the source of that idea. Decades ago, I’d had a very strong interest in Classical Greek history, so the reference was obvious to me: the bitter rivalry between a dominant Sparta and a rising Athens that had led to the decades long Peloponnesian War that devastated Greece. But only recently did I discover that the term had been popularized in Destined for War, a 2017 national bestseller by Harvard’s Graham Allison, which had followed his earlier 2015 Atlantic article on the same subject.

This is an excellent overview of the geopolitical situation US neocons have created for USA and how bad it is, though maybe some good will come of it because even US neocons may fear full-blown war with China. Good read and best not to skip it even if you already sense the core problem. ABN

A part of Western civilization produced a culture of men who created the entire modern world

I personally do not descend from that part of Europe. I am descended from the slaves/serfs of Northeastern Europe. How can anyone deny that the modern world was created by a culture of men from that region on the map? Why should I feel ashamed of my ancestry? Why would I not admire the men who created the modern world? To me, it’s asinine for slave societies, which is virtually all the rest of the world, to boast of their meagre accomplishments or pretend their ancestors did anything we still value today. I loved my peasant grandma and her pagan ways. She was very clever, very low education, but an absolute delight to be around. I don’t feel ashamed of her. To speak dishonestly about her is to shame her and myself. I can love my ancestry without making up stories about it. And I can understand and appreciate who created the wonders of the world we live in today. Those men could have concealed their inventions and kept them from the rest of the world.
