‘We need Greenland for national security purposes’ — Trump

  1. What is Trump doing? Is this a joke, is he trying to make statements that the left can use to say, See, he’s a dictator wannabe, he wants to annex Canada and Greenland!

Empire is the absolute worst form of government. We should be working to break up the empire, not expand it! I would love to see the US break up into a dozen or more smaller countries. Why? Because local democracy is not real democracy if some bureaucrat at the capital of the empire, 2500 miles distant, can tell you what you can and cannot do in your local area. Local government, local democracy should be at the top of the hierarchy of government. When a decision is made at the local level it should not be able to be overridden by State government or Federal government. But we have it backwards: State can tell the locals what they can and cannot do, and Feds can tell States and locals what they can and cannot do. This is not democracy, it’s tyranny. And this is what the Founders were trying to avoid when they set up the new republic. They wanted limited government with most of the power at the state and local level. They would be shocked if they saw what our federal government has become. Dozens of 3 and 4 letter agencies that wield power over almost every aspect of ours lived. HHS alone has 80,000 employees! Shut them all down! Break up the empire!

      1. Well, that’s the fear anyway. But lots of countries in Europe have broken up into smaller countries and they haven’t been killed. What’s killing countries in Europe is the decision to belong to the EU! EU is just another form of empire, letting some bureaucrat make decisions for a country they know nothing about. EU bureaucrats are forcing EU countries to take large numbers of immigrants that are beyond the countries’ ability to handle. Europe is being overwhelmed with Muslim immigrants. Disband the EU! Just like we should break up the American Empire ;-)

        1. I agree with what you are saying and there’s nothing about KOBK that I particularly like. It’s just the way human societies operate because there are always people grabbing for power, psychopaths and people like that. Maybe someday there will be some way to correct for it. The US Constitution was designed precisely for that, but look what has happened. A major KOBK battle going on today is the battle for the North Pole and the northern part of the globe. If USA doesn’t take it, China or Russia will

          1. I can’t argue with that. I suspect I’m too idealistic.

I wish I could take a look at global politics 50 years from now, or 100. I won’t be around then, but I believe it’s going to get very interesting in the next 10, 20, 30 years.
