Trump executive order requires federal employees to return to their offices

The number of federal employees who ‘work’ remotely is somewhere between 33% – 60%. Legitimate remote work is perfectly OK and even desirable in many situations. But we all know that a significant proportion of remote federal workers are collecting salaries without doing much of anything else. My understanding is many of them live hours away from their offices and fulfill now cancelled federal requirements by showing up for the last couple days of one month and the first couple days of the next month and take the rest of the time off. Trump’s executive order is designed to force these ’employees’ to quit or get back to work. I want to avoid slurring all federal employees, many of whom do first-rate and necessary work. One type we all know and see often is USPS letter carriers who genuinely work their asses off. ABN

  1. I agree with you re UPS workers, they work hard and are much appreciated by most Americans. However, the tens of thousands who work in the “regulatory” agencies should be fired in my opinion because those agencies are corrupt. They now serve as marketing arms for the very industry they are supposed to be regulating. FDA and CDC are perfect examples.

I was astounded to read recently that HHS has 80 thousand employees! Shut it down, shut down the FDA and CDC and all other regulatory agencies. I believe the Founders of the US intended for very limited federal government, and that most of the process of governance should be in the hands of the state or local governments or the people themselves. Shut down the regulatory agencies in DC, fire the unelected bureaucrats, and return the power that those agencies had to state or local governments.
