Trump signs Executive Order to maximize parental choice over vaccinations for their children

DELIVERING GOLD STANDARD CHILDHOOD VACCINE RECOMMENDATIONS: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to recognize Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations that maximize parental choices over vaccinations for their children and align three categories of childhood immunizations with scientific evidence and best practices from peer, developed countries.

  • The Order provides recommendations that give parents more information and options when making immunization decisions for their children.
    • The Order recommends all children get immunizations to provide protection for 11 diseases – a decrease from the 18 diseases recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2024. Immunizations no longer recommended for all children are now recommended for shared clinical decision-making, ensuring that parents have all options available to them. 
    • The Order recommends separating out the combined MMR vaccine into three single-disease shots and recommends administering all vaccines during separate medical visits to give parents more options regarding the timing and frequency of this vaccine administration.
    • States that enact school vaccine requirements are advised to consider the Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations and consider updating their laws to reflect the recommendations.
    • All Federal agencies are advised to advance the Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations based on their relevant authorities to ensure Americans have the best scientific information. 
  • The Order maximizes parental choice over childhood vaccines by promoting State compliance with constitutional and Federal law related to parental authority, religious freedom, disability accommodations, and equal protection under the law, including States’ obligations to provide religious and medical exemptions from childhood and adolescent immunization requirement.
  • The Order directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the HHS Task Force on Safer Childhood Vaccines, to present plans to the President to improve vaccine research and options for American parents, including continuous evaluation of the risk and benefit profiles of all childhood vaccines based on U.S. and international data.

Looks like a good start.

When you consider the vaccine topic from a vague ‘national’ and ‘science’ POV, it can appear complex, leading to individual resignation or stubborn belief based on unthinking habituation. When you consider it from a state’s POV or a schoolboard’s, the absurdity of government coercing medical treatments for children is easier to see for what it is. The smaller the state or the dumber the schoolboard, the more obvious it becomes. USA local and state governments are filled with people entirely unqualified to rule on matters like this. When ‘national standards’ are blindly followed, anyone who can read and think understands relevant agencies have all been captured by Big Pharma and Big Money. ABN

After being pushed, Grok finally agreed to generate an infographic but refused to include the terms “Jewish monopolies” (historical tax farmer, slave trade, war contractor, trade and banking monopolies) and “Jewish Problem” (Diaspora group refusing to assimilate). Yet other American AI models are even more censorious. ChatGPT, for instance, flatly refuses to discuss historically documented Jewish monopolies, while China’s DeepSeek allows these conversations.

Introduction

The Ludwig von Mises Institute serves as the headquarters for the Austrian School of economics and the rationalist-conservative strain of libertarianism known as Austro-Libertarianism. Although Ludwig von Mises passed away in 1973 and his leading disciple, Murray Rothbard, in 1995, their memory and intellectual message are carried on by the Institute. Led by President Llewellyn Rockwell Jr., the Institute’s foremost resident intellectual is David Gordon—a close friend and disciple of Rothbard. Like Mises and Rothbard, Gordon is Jewish. So too was Burton Blumert, whose Center for Libertarian Studies helped establish the Mises Institute before later integrating into it.

Following Blumert’s passing in 2009, only Rockwell and Gordon remain from the original guard. Gordon serves as the scholarly editor of the Mises Review and stands as the ultimate authority on all things Rothbardian. He is deeply revered by the Institute’s student body; some of his student fans even affectionately refer to him as the mastermind or “God” due to his encyclopedic knowledge on virtually every subject.

Masterminds

Austro-Libertarianism is renowned not only for its free-market ideology and cultural conservatism, but particularly for its anti-war, isolationist foreign policy. This stance is rooted in an Austro-Libertarian Theory and historical narrative that views the United States as the world’s foremost imperialist power. At first glance, the Austro-Libertarian theory of history appears paradoxical. Much like Marxist theory, it posits that world history is largely driven by genetic and economic forces. However, unlike Marxism, it assigns a key role to specific individuals who operate at the crossroads of history when economic crises and wars create turning points. These key actors can be great generals, politicians, or entrepreneurs—but they can also be intellectuals. Occasionally, these intellectuals act as true masterminds, steering the course of history toward either liberty or tyranny through the sheer force of their ideas and personality.

Austro-Libertarians believe that during the last century, two great masterminds successfully turned the wheel of history toward liberty: Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard. Mises championed the fight against socialism. His disciple, Rothbard, not only expanded Mises’ work into a comprehensive, rationalist anti-statist paradigm, but also laid the foundations for the modern paleolibertarian movement alongside allies like Howard Buffett, Ron Paul and Patrick Buchanan.

The most famous of these allies is former Congressman Ron Paul, who remains closely associated with the institute. His historic campaigns in 2008 and 2012 brought him remarkably close to securing the Republican presidential nomination. Today, the Ron Paul Liberty Movement continues to exert significant influence within the Republican Party, MAGA and the larger libertarian movement.

Japanese population falls below 120m for first time in 42 years

TOKYO (Kyodo) — The number of Japanese nationals fell below 120 million for the first time in 42 years to 119,736,483 at the start of this year, the government said Wednesday, underscoring the challenges faced by a nation battling declining birth rates.

The figure as of Jan. 1 showed a drop of 917,000 people from a year earlier, the largest fall since comparable data became available in 1968, according to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

The number of foreign residents, meanwhile, rose 354,000 to a record 4,031,159. The ministry began compiling relevant data in 2013.

Despite government efforts to reverse the declining birth trend, the country recorded around 670,000 births, a record low, compared with around 1.59 million deaths.

Let the population fall and deal with it. There are many advantages to a shrinking population. A nation should not be a population Ponzi scheme, wherein only a few benefit from the imported labor. And also, they are separably analyzable, and fundamentally one in the same thing working on different percepta1, at different speeds and at different and combined times. They have different capacities, become conscious at different times or at the same times in different measure. They hold or embrace all we know of our bodies and minds. Are they existential YOLO solipsisms? Or are they connected to something else, as time and space are connected, God and man, the Buddha mind and the ordinary mind? Are they beyond time or do they manufacture it or simply dwell in it?

Inner speech as subversive marker of psychology. True speech passes quickly

Inner speech—what we say to ourselves when alone—provides a reasonably good outline of our conscious psychology, an outline of how we understand ourselves.

Inner speech may also include semi-conscious information and subject matter.

When engaged in personal art and poetry inner speech frequently draws on unconscious material, though it is difficult to know where to draw lines between art and psychology. Art is all but defined by its capacity to evoke many interpretations.

Inner speech wanders and can become subversive, even if beautiful, by confirming misunderstandings.

When we are consciously mindful of our inner speech and deliberately pay extra attention to it (a valuable practice), our speaking will change because whenever we focus on anything our relationship to it changes.

When speech pays attention to itself, it brings recursion, one of its core features, to bear on itself. In doing that it raises self-awareness to higher macro-levels or causes self-awareness to view itself from different perspectives.

Consciousness seems to require consciousness of something; in this case it is consciousness of consciousness, a very simple thing actually.

Does water know it’s wet? I don’t know. Does consciousness know it is conscious? Of course it does. We must admit here, though, that what we are conscious of is often wrong.

Being wrong is a big problem with inner speech. I might be talking rather passionately to myself about something that never happened the way I have come to see it. We all know this, though it’s hard to know what to do about it.

That’s probably a big piece of what the Buddha meant by delusion, and wrong speech. Mumbling away in my own head about something I am completely wrong about!

Oh well.

With an honest partner at least I can get an honest answer about whatever they are thinking right now and compare that to whatever I thought I saw in them. And from that I can tell whether what I thought I saw in them was right or wrong.

That is very good information, some of the best.

If you let even a few seconds pass, your partner’s memory of what they were thinking will begin eroding, their information not-so-slowly consumed by immemory1 or a flood of yet more inner speech.

Friends will typically provide all the inner speech you want, but we would be back at square one if we took that in place much better information from as close as possible to the actual moment that just occurred.

If you think about it, you will probably agree that we can really only gain an objective insight into our psychology in the moment with an honest partner. And in those instances, we will mostly only gain insights into small bits of it.

With time and an accumulation of many small bits of information like that, however, we will begin to see much better outlines of our psychologies. Much better than either our own inner speech can provide or that can be provided by any theory that comes from outside of us.

FIML leverages our working memories to gain multiple accurate insights into our conscious delusions, our idiosyncratic mistakes, our lazy off-the-shelf interpretations of things that never happened.

Without FIML, we trap ourselves in a mind-control prison of our own making.

With FIML, we free ourselves from that all-pervasive human trap.

Micro, meso, and macro FIML

Micro FIML practice is basic to all FIML practice.

(A description of micro FIML can be found here: How to do FIML.)

Basic or micro FIML provides a sturdy foundation for many other kinds of interpersonal discussions. This is so because basic FIML makes partners confident that they can say what they think without fearing that their partner will significantly misunderstand them.

Why is that? The reason is if your partner interprets what you have said in a palpable—and especially a negative—way, they will ask you about it. Once they have asked you, you can clarify what you meant, change it, expand on it, explain it, or do anything else you want with it as long as you are being honest.

Basic FIML explicates all new clouds that appear on the horizon. If your partner speaks or communicates in a way that causes a small cloud to appear on your horizon and you have time, bring it up immediately using the basic FIML technique linked above. If you don’t have time to bring it up immediately, do it later when you do have time if the cloud is still there. Even if the cloud is gone, it can still be interesting to bring it up later because you can discuss the incident and learn more about yourselves from that. Very small incidents are often the most interesting because data points are clear and strong emotions are not likely to be aroused.

No FIML partner should ever carry around a shadow of misgiving or negativity about their partner without saying something about it. This is where meso and macro levels of FIML come into play.

Meso and macro FIML come into play when you discover that even though you have been doing basic FIML perfectly and dealt with every cloud that appeared on your horizon, still there is a shadow or haze developing in your mind.

You can’t remember when it started or how it started, but you know it is there.

If you have been doing basic FIML and are reasonably skilled in it, you should be able to bring up the matter of a gathering haze in your mind and clear it with your partner. Maybe you partner is spending too much time away from you or too close to you. Maybe you are starting to feel weird about something they keep saying. No single incident of their saying whatever it is has bothered you enough to mention it, but they keep saying it and that is getting to you. Once you notice anything like that, just bring it up and discuss it at a meso level while relying on basic micro FIML practice to steer you toward a good resolution that works for both of you.

Another example of a meso discussion might be something like: you are a bit tired, your partner says something and you respond in what seems a pleasant way to you and they respond to that in a way that seems sharp or restrictive to you. Since you are tired, you don’t do basic FIML at the right moment but instead respond sharply to what you had perceived as their sharpness.

If your partner questions you on that and/or if you notice it yourself, just do a meso FIML discussion that brings in all of the factors you are aware of. Your habit of doing basic FIML will make it much easier to have conversations on meso or macro levels than if you had never done basic FIML at all.

A macro level FIML discussion might entail a growing shift in your understanding of any macro subject—science, religion, philosophy, politics, etc.

As with meso discussions, macro discussions will be much easier and more enjoyable if partners know how to do basic FIML.

Basic FIML solves most communication problems by helping partners be honest with each other in ways that are helpful and productive without being phony. Basic FIML also helps partners sail past the many minor snags that can occur in conversations, such as quibbling over word choices, minor details, tone of voice, gestures, and so on.

This happens because basic FIML will already have provided many examples of small snags and how to overcome them. It does take some practice to get to this point, but it is not much harder than learning to sew or make pizza. Requires some work and there are better and worse results, but once you get going the benefits should be clear enough to keep you going.

In my view, FIML will not work for partners only if a misinterpretation is not addressed, not honestly addressed, or not substantially addressed from the micro level on up. If you always jump in at meso and macro levels, you will almost certainly cause more problems than you will solve.

FIML provides an artist’s point of view

Through real-time inquiries during real moments of real life, FIML reveals the palette and tools of the artist, as they are being used.

As the receiver of a FIML inquiry, you are asked to reflect on the moments just passing.

Your answer provides a lot of information to both you and your partner.

Your partner also has information and insights into what their mind was doing.

These shared insights are the details of your psychologies as they are actually functioning in a real situation.

It is transformative to see these details often.

To do this, I think you have to use a “game” like FIML because FIML has no presuppositions. FIML does not ask you to believe anything; just do the method.

Thoughts hidden by subjective phrases

After years of clearing up my mind, I noticed that my inner voice sometimes uses short phrases to bring negative trains of thought to an end. It was a habit I was aware of but had never given any thought to.

The phrases are not pretty; e.g. “I hate them all,” “fuck them,” “who cares about assholes like that,” etc.

My guess is this kind of inner speech is not uncommon. I was using it to end various lines of thought that had wandered into painful territory.

Having a clearer mind today or at least believing I did, I decided that when phrases or words like that came up again, I would not let them shut off my thoughts as I had been doing. Rather I would let the thoughts continue, explore what was there.

What I found is a bunch of old memories and emotions that were fairly easy to clean up. They were not so much repressed as not having been visited for many years. The nasty phrases were like labels in an old, unused filing cabinet.

About half the material was out of date and easy to toss. Another one-quarter was pertinent but was stuff I had dealt with in other ways and was thus redundant.

Only about a quarter of the material lying behind those nasty phrases deserved more thought.

In some of the most interesting cases, I realized that I was letting someone off too easy by hiding their behavior inside a neutral memory. They actually had been horrible but I had been too young to understand (narcissists, for example). Analyzing that stuff over again in a more mature mind was a bit of a chore, but the results have been good, even refreshing.

The process is ongoing. It does resemble cleaning an attic or an old filing cabinet. The stuff I found behind those nasty phrases was not all the stuff from my past. It was just stuff where I was blaming someone or feeling angry about something or had been harmed by someone. The bad stuff I’ve done is elsewhere in my mind.

I am struck by several things concerning those phrases and what lay behind them. One is a lot of that material dates back to childhood and early adulthood. It was not so much unconscious as not having been visited for a long time. Though most of it does not have strong emotional valence, some of it is very revealing because it brings together memories that had been disconnected, leading me to understand dramas or aspects of experience I had not understood before even though I had lived them. I also notice that it was just a few words that closed off those “files.”

The power of words to command silence in the mind is enormous.

I had been dismissing all that material with just a few words whenever I didn’t feel like going there, which was every time. After not going there for many years, it was refreshing to poke around and rearrange those parts of my mind. I am quite sure I freed up some memory space and removed some snags in my thinking by dealing with that stuff. I also see new patterns within my general sense of my past, patterns with better explanatory power, both truer and more concise.

I see our minds as having a structure sort of similar to language or a forest. Trees of ideas, memories, and feelings grow and change. It’s good to remove some of them sometimes, put the space to better use. Buddhist practice is very helpful in endeavors like this. Rather than get all worked up with Freudian passions and delusions, we can simply observe, dismiss, refile, erase, upgrade, or reimagine as needed based on our capacities and understanding of what’s best.

Our bhavanga or “storehouse consciousness” contains memories, pictures, ideas, words., explanations They flow along with us, in many ways are us. When the mind is clear, a lot of that material can be rearranged for the better. There aren’t many rules for that. Just do your best.

The Vatican fired me after I claimed a word used 2,570 times in the Bible refers to alien beings

An Italian translator who says he was ‘fired by the Vatican’ for his interpretation of the original Hebrew Bible has revealed a radical reinterpretation of what God in scripture really is.

Mauro Biglino pointed to the word ‘Elohim,’ found 2,570 times in the Holy Book, which translates to ‘God’ or, in his opinion, ‘Gods.’

According to Biglino, his conclusions stem from translating the original Hebrew text literally rather than through centuries of theological interpretation. 

Pointing out that Elohim is often treated as a singular name for God despite its plural form, he argued that the Bible describes multiple divine figures rather than one supreme being.

‘There are multiple divine figures, with different names of God,’ he said. 

The word also appears throughout the Old Testament with both singular and plural verbs, which he says suggests it cannot always refer to a single deity.

One passage central to his theory is Psalm 82, where God appears to stand among other divine beings before declaring: ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’ But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.’

To Biglino, the passage describes an assembly of the Elohim rather than a lone, all-powerful God. 

He argued it reflects a council of powerful beings, not a single divine ruler. Biblical scholar Michael S Heiser also interpreted Psalm 82 as describing a divine council, although he viewed its members as spiritual beings rather than extraterrestrials.

Semiotic proprioception in dreams and waking

Proprioception means “one’s own” or “ones’ individual” (Latin proprius) “perception.”

We normally use this word to refer to our physical position in the world—whether we are standing or sitting, how we are moving, and how much energy we are using.

When we dream, our capacity for physical movement, with rare exceptions, is paralyzed. But we still do a sort of proprioception in dreams—a semiotic proprioception, or proprioception within the semiology of the dream.

In dreams, we grope through semiotic associations and respond, gropingly, to them. People and things often look smaller in dreams, or distorted, because we do not have either the need or the capacity to calibrate our physical proprioception as we do in waking life.

Dreams move from one semiotic proprioception to another via our individual four-dimensional (3D plus time) groping/associative function. In one short segment of a dream we are at home, then we go through a door only to find ourselves on a boat in the ocean. Our 4D semiotic proprioception within dreams readily accepts groping, associative shifts like this.

Much of what we perceive when we are awake is memory. We glance at a room we know well and call up our memory of it rather than actually look closely at the room.

I am fairly sure that the memories we call up to aid perception while we are awake are much the same as the groping proprioception we experience in dreams. A major difference is when we are awake we can and do check our waking proprioception with the people and objects around us, while in dreams the associative function has a much freer range.

Notice how dreams move from scene to scene rather slowly. Things can go quickly, but normally dreams grope somewhat slowly along the 4D path of semiotic proprioception.

In waking life, our dreamy use of memory and association to aid perception of the world happens constantly.

When we speak with another person, we use this function to make groping associations concerning what we think they are saying. We grope and respond to them as in a dream while at the same time searching for clues that indicate we are both in the same dream.

These clues that two people may sort of “agree on” while speaking are normally standard public semiotics that belong to whatever culture(s) they share. By “agreeing” on them, we form a sort of agreeable camaraderie with whomever we are speaking, and this can be satisfying, but if we only get this, it can also become deeply unsatisfying.

The four dimensional groping/dreamy function of our mind is far richer than any standard collection of public semiotics. In our public lives—professional, commercial, based on organizations, etc.—we have, at present, little recourse but to accept normal public semiotics, to agree with them and manifest agreement.

We can express some deviation from them and sometimes make jokes about them, but we are generally fairly bound to the semiotics of the culture or organization that generates the context of our speaking. Consider how people in the same church or school are bound by the semiotics of those institutions.

In our intimate relations, however, we do have recourse to investigate and understand how our groping, 4D semiotic proprioception works. This is what FIML does. It allows partners to observe, analyze, and understand the semiotic proprioceptions of their minds as they are actually functioning during interpersonal communication.

If you constantly avoid FIML types of investigations, you will be stuck with a mix of dimly shared public/private semiotics that will tend to become highly ambiguous, even volatile, or very shallow.

Modern surface temperatures are an echo from the past. The Earth is an ocean planet, driven by a pulsating 1,000-year conveyor belt known as Thermohaline Circulation. We are witnessing a planetary memory in the oceans operating on a scale humans struggle to imagine — where deep currents are only now responding to thermal signals set in motion during the Roman Warm Period (250 BC–400 AD).

Indeed, a landmark study by Jake Gebbie (Woods Hole) and Peter Huybers (Harvard) found that the deep Pacific lags so far behind the atmosphere that it is still actively cooling from the later Medieval Warm Period, and only just beginning to digest the climate shift of the Little Ice Age.

The top 3.5 meters of the oceans hold the same heat capacity as the entire global atmosphere. The 3,700 meters below, is the Earth’s thermal vault of all retained heat energy. Oceanic inertia – or momentum – smooths out atmospheric hot and cold spikes.

The oceans absorb and retain 90% of the system’s excess heat while the atmosphere is simply a gaseous envelope, thin and reactive, largely a passenger on the back of the massive oceanic flywheel.

A good essay on framing, reading, and thinking

The essay A Framework for Reclaiming Reality is a great example of good reading on the Internet today.

The author, Jonathan Revusky, skewers a good deal of what passes for thought and analysis in modern society. Whether you agree with every point he makes, his case is a strong one and surely mostly correct.

A lot of the fun of articles like Revusky’s comes in the comments section. For essays like this, I usually read most of the first comments plus all of the author’s replies, but skip a good deal of the back-and-forth between commenters.

Revusky is concerned with macro-societal-and-history-level BS and he nails a lot of it. A good deal of what he describes is the same as what I often describe as “public semiotics,” political positions (and others) which function more as social signals than real thought and that often are dead wrong.

If you can see Revusky’s point on the macro scale, you should be able to also see that we all do a lot of that sort of thing on the micro and meso scales of interpersonal communication and belief.

I have categorized this post under “Buddhism” because I believe a good deal of what the Buddha meant by delusion is falling for BS public (and private) semiotics.

How an Open Future Changes the Case Against Immortality.

The Opening Claim

The traditional case against immortality often assumes that life is meaningful largely due to its finitude. The fact that life will end. That our choices matter because time is scarce. I argue the opposite. If the universe and future remain open1 then immortality grants access to infinite novelty, growth, and participation in the ongoing creation of reality. The value of life is not derived from its ending, but from the possibility of more participation ahead.

While researching some of the previous philosophical questions here, I kept returning to the topic of immortality. I’m not talking about life extension itself, but how often I saw that the defense of mortality was being treated as self-evident. We encounter the assumption that finitude is a boon, and that death gives life meaning. I set out to examine that assumption, because I think it is less obvious than it may seem.

…So I propose the following;

P1: A life is meaningful insofar as it contains novel opportunities for genuine participation in reality.

P2: Genuine participation requires the possibility of novelty, discovery, growth, or creation.

P5: Immortality preserves access to those possibilities.

C: Therefore, if reality remains indefinitely open, then immortality is compatible with an indefinitely meaningful life.


In short, immortality need not lead to boredom. Rather than death being the “horizon that gives life meaning,” immortality may give us access to the inexhaustible horizon of becoming.
