Canadian academics write paper arguing that poverty should not disqualify people from euthanasia

A new paper by two bioethicists at the University of Toronto makes the case that euthanizing the poor should be socially acceptable. Kayla Wiebe, a PhD candidate in philosophy, and bioethicist Amy Mullin, a philosophy professor, wrote in the Journal of Medical Ethics that:

To force people who are already in unjust social circumstances to have to wait until those social circumstances improve, or for the possibility of public charity but unreliably occurs when particularly distressing cases become public, is unacceptable. A harm reduction approach acknowledges that the recommended solution is necessarily an imperfect one: a ‘lesser evil’ between two or more less than ideal options.

The horror stories of Canadians seeking assisted suicide because they cannot get the social assistance they need are “worst-case scenarios,” the bioethicists write. “One way of responding to these cases is, ‘Well, clearly then, medical aid in dying should not be available to them,’” Mullin said in an interview. “We just don’t think the fact that social conditions are contributing to make their lives intolerable means that they don’t have the wherewithal to make that choice. People can make their own determination about whether their lives are worth living, and we should respect that.”

Wiebe and Mullin reject the idea that the circumstances driving Canadians to suicide are coercive, and that refusing to kill them upon request “amounts to perpetuating their suffering, hoping that this will ultimately lead to a better, more ‘just’ world.” In their view, the best “harm reduction approach” would mean that “the least harmful way forward is to allow MAiD to be available.”

This is disappointing but Kennedy probably has to say it no matter what he plans to do. He may change his mind because a ticket with him and Trump would do more to resurrect USA than any other conceivable ticket. Four more years of President Trump with VP Kennedy followed by eight years of President Kennedy would do so much good, I hope both men will consider it seriously. Even if one or both of them sees it as a sacrifice of deeply felt principles, this is a sacrifice worth making. Filing this one under ‘morality ethics’ because this would be an ethical decision of enormous greatness, one that towers over individual pride. ABN

Biden DOJ — Kids have A Constitutional Right To Puberty Blockers

The Biden Administration has a new and unhinged constitutional theory: the 14th Amendment protects the right of a child to take puberty blockers. Bans on hormone treatments for children with gender dysphoria, such as the prescription of testosterone to a transgender 12 year-old, violate the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause.

That’s the Administration’s position in LW v. Skrmetti, a lawsuit filed in a Nashville, Tennessee federal court by the families of three transgender children – a fifteen year-old transgender daughter (who thought he was transgender at age 12), a fifteen year-old transgender son, and a twelve year-old transgender son. They’re challenging a new Tennessee law that “establishes prohibitions related to the performance on minors of certain medical procedures related to gender identity, creates private causes of action for violations, and establishes additional penalties for violations.”

The families of these transgender kids allege that the Tennessee law (1) violates the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause by targeting the transgender; (2) violates the right of parental autonomy guaranteed by the 14th Amendment’s due process clause; and (3) that the law is preempted by the Affordable Care Act, which prohibits discrimination “on the basis of sex.”

All the children are “currently receiving medical care” that would be prohibited by the recent Tennessee legislation.

Everyone is trying to map AI onto some familiar ontology, but the reality will be so unfamiliar, foreign, & incomprehensible that it will tear to shreds the assumptions which we didn’t even know we made

Ppl tend to think about AI through very very narrow frames

Obviously, there’s many who default to AI=unemployment issue

Or the tech folks who see it as crypto 2.0 or merely as big as the internet

But it goes way deeper.

(1/3)

Even EA’s will think about AI primarily in terms of “is it an X-risk? yes or no” and then go back to debating the ‘moral worth’ of animals, totally ignoring the prospect of digital minds that will shortly have arbitrarily large amounts of whatever they define as ‘moral worth’

Everyone is trying to map AI onto some familiar ontology, but the reality will be so unfamiliar, foreign, & incomprehensible that it will tear to shreds the assumptions which we didn’t even know we made

We are going to live through this and are only seeing glimpses of it now

Thoughts on Tucker Carlson’s Firing

….Prior to 2021, Tucker Carlson was what you might call a Fox News loyalist.  He was very loyal to the organization.  During the COVID-19 era, Tucker Carlson moved his physical location away from Washington DC to his home in Maine.  Fox built him a studio, and Carlson manifest his own destiny free from most production constraints.

Over the past 18+/- months, viewers have watched Tucker Carlson essentially red pill himself each evening.  As he enjoyed the proximity freedom far away from the Eye of Sauron (DC’s control mechanism), Carlson’s eyes opened further to the reality of the situation that blankets our national consciousness.

Disconnected from the machine, free-range in his abilities, and with the intellectual curiosity of the average person, Tucker Carlson started to see the U.S. system as it is, not as media pretend it to be.  This is the increasing red pill absorption you have noted daily.  Along with that came a more pragmatic and brutally honest production quality to the content he shared.

Carlson’s influence grew as the audience grew; the more truth he spoke, the larger the audience.  That free-range influence became a liability to the system operators that hold power, including Rupert Murdoch who is a part of that control system.  In essence, and in the big picture, that’s what led to this event today.

Even if you are not interested in Carlson, this is worth reading. Says a lot about where USA is today. ABN

Trump tells top RNC donors the old GOP is not coming back—they must now become the new America First party of the working class—and lays out plan for nationwide Republican ballot harvesting operation

President Donald Trump delivered remarks to the Republican National Convention donors retreat in Nashville over the weekend, giving donors a sneak peak at what they could expect both from his candicacy, and from his potential second term.

Trump focused on long term and short term goals when it comes to voting. He expressed his desire to secure the vote with paper ballots only, eventually. Before that can be achieved, however, Republicans must become masters of ballot harvesting. In the short term, where drop boxes cannot be eliminated, Trump insisted that we need them in every church and veteran center.

This is the kind of realism we need. And not just for ballots. There are many other pressing national issues that must be addressed realistically, factually, and in simple terms. I don’t care how much the left screams, we need realism. And that starts with WINNING THE ELECTION and the ONLY GAME IN TOWN IS BALLOT HARVESTING. Ballot harvesting is fundamentally nasty, even immoral, but it will get the job done. If we do not fight back and play their game even harder, we will to lose USA forever. ABN

‘If detransition is real, the whole “gender identity” house of cards collapses’ — Ed Diehl, OR state rep

I received confirmation this week from Legislative Legal Council that House Bill 2002-A specifically EXCLUDES DETRANSITION TREATMENTS from insurance coverage.

With this bill, Medicaid and private insurance are mandated to cover treatments when your “gender identity” and sex don’t align. But, if you believe you have made a mistake and want a procedure to align with your sex, coverage will not be mandated.

The wording in the bill is intentional.

…SO HERE IS THE CRUX OF THE ISSUE: To detransition is to demonstrate that gender identity is not immutable.

By including detransition treatment coverage in the bill, the true believers would be acknowledging that detransition is real, that some children and young adults are being harmed, and that the professionals can be wrong. And that is something they simply cannot admit.

Court Filing: Kamala Harris, Merrick Garland Violate US Code, Have No Oath of Office on File

A new court filing reveals that Kamala Harris, Merrick Garland, and other leading Democrats in the Biden Administration, including Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandra Mayorkis, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, have no oath of loyalty to the US Constitution on file, as required by law.

A writ of quo warranto filed in Washington, DC asserts that oaths of office for high-ranking members of Joe Biden’s cabinet are nowhere to be found, in blatant violation of the US Code that requires all elected officials to keep a sworn affidavit of their oath on file, proving their sworn continued allegiance to the United States and the US Constitution.

This is serious, and offending parties still have not produced their oaths or addressed the issue. Not signing the oath, ironically, does show they understand its importance. ABN

Washington State Democrats Pass Bill Allowing Government to Take Children from Parents Who Refuse Gender Transition Surgeries

The Washington State Legislature has passed SB 5599, a bill that allows the state to take children away from their parents if they refuse to consent to their child’s gender transition surgeries. The bill was passed with the support of all Democrats and the opposition of all Republicans.

According to the legislation, certified shelters can contact the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) in lieu of parents in certain instances, such as when a youth is seeking reproductive health services or gender-affirming care. The bill is designed to provide housing options to those in crisis and ensure that at-risk youth have a roof over their heads during an already challenging period in their life.

However, critics of the bill have raised concerns about the government’s ability to interfere in parental decision-making and take children away from their families. Some have argued that the bill infringes upon the fundamental rights of parents to make decisions about their children’s health and well-being.

UN report calls for decriminalization of all sexual activity, including between adults and children

A new report from the United Nations has called for all forms of drug use and sexual activity to be decriminalized globally.

Written by the International Committee of Jurists (ICJ), UNAIDS and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the report was released on International Women’s Day, with the goal of guiding “the application of international human rights law to criminal law.” Called the “8 March principles,” the report calls for offenses related to “sex, drug use, HIV, sexual and reproductive health, homelessness and poverty” to be decriminalized.

The United Nations experts say that criminalizing offenses related to these issues constitute an attack on human rights.
