Tribute to David Ray Griffin: Friends and colleagues remember him in their own words.

OffGuardian has been privileged to feature the work of David Ray Griffin several times in our history. So when we heard the sad news of his passing we decided to organize a small tribute to his life.

We asked his close colleague Elizabeth Woodworth to say some words and to name the colleagues and friends she thought David would most have wanted to leave a remembrance of him.

Here, with one or two additions of our own, is that remembrance.

Meet The Celebrity-Endorsed Extremist Movement Expert Calls The ‘Greatest Threat To Black Americans’ Today

  • Black Hebrew Israelite (BHI) ideology is growing in America according to several experts that spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation, one going so far as to call it the “greatest threat to black Americans.”
  • A 2019 poll sponsored by the Philos Project entitled “African American Attitudes Toward Israel” surveyed over 1,000 African American participants. Several of the questions specifically pertained to BHI ideology. Males were twice as likely to pick the response stating “I agree with most of the core ideas taught by Black Hebrew Israelites” than females.
  • The DCNF spoke with Bishop Nathanyel, the head of the IUC church with locations in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Nathaniel stated that the term ‘Black Hebrew Israelites’ was a false moniker made up by the media.

Federal appeals court bars Biden administration from forcing Catholic groups to provide transgender care

A federal appeals court on Friday permanently blocked the Biden administration from requiring religious doctors and hospitals to perform transgender medical services that violate their conscience, becoming the second court to do so.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit affirmed a lower court ruling in favor of the plaintiffs in Sisters of Mercy v. Becerra, a case concerning a coalition of Catholic groups who have challenged the Biden administration’s attempt to invoke the Affordable Care Act to prohibit doctors and hospitals from discriminating against transgender patients. The Catholic groups, which include hospitals, a university and nuns who run health clinics, say the Biden administration’s rule violates their free exercise of religion.

An August ruling from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals similarly held that the federal government cannot force Christian medical organizations to perform abortions or gender transition surgeries under the Affordable Care Act.

The World According to Mike Pence

We can stop there and finish by observing that nothing in this book contradicts what we’ve learned over these two years, namely that Mike Pence served as both a carrier pigeon and protecting veil for the national security state that took over the country in March 2020. It was he who gave the okay to Birx’s subversions. It was he who assisted in convincing Trump of the lockdowns. It was he who pushed the panic that led to massive spending, overpurchases of masks and ventilators, he who pushed for the deployment of the Defense Production Act, and he who sent the Navy hospital ship to New York that went unused. And he not only defends all his actions but implies that they were all blessed by God. ~ JEFFREY A. TUCKER

quote from Tucker’s review of Pence’s book

The whole review is well-worth reading. If you have any doubt that Pence is a self-righteous back-stabbing DS tool, this review is a must read. ABN

Medically assisted suicide in Canada, an example of going too far

Alan Nichols was a 61-year-old British Columbian with a history of depression and other medical issues – though none of them life-threatening – who was hospitalized in 2019 over fears he might be suicidal.

Although he asked his brother, Gary, to ‘bust him out’ as soon as possible, within a month of going into hospital he’d submitted a request to be euthanized. He listed only one health condition – hearing loss – as the reason but that was enough to satisfy his keepers and he was killed. ‘Alan was basically put to death,’ said his brother Gary.

Erin Smith said her 71-year-old father, Rod McNeill, went to an Ontario hospital after suffering a fall. A month later, he had been euthanized. She says the doctors responsible didn’t even get hold of his medical records from his own physician.

He was subsequently euthanized for a condition – end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – that an autopsy shows he didn’t have, she said.

Sheila Elson, the mother of a 25-year-old woman with cerebral palsy said a hospital doctor in Newfoundland actually told her she’d be ‘selfish’ if she didn’t consider pursuing the euthanasia option.

Roger Foley, a patient with a degenerative brain disorder, secretly recorded staff at his hospital in London, Ontario, mentioning euthanasia.

In one recording, the hospital’s director of ethics told Mr Foley it would cost ‘north of $1,500 a day’ to keep him in hospital, adding: ‘My piece of this was to talk to you, (to see) if you had an interest in assisted dying.’

Mr Foley said he had never previously mentioned euthanasia, but the hospital said there is no ban on staff raising the issue.

Moral reasoning in grey areas

Fundamental to moral reasoning is a grey area of proportion or the degree to which something is done or how easy or hard it is to do it. Or whether it should be done at all. Legalistic cultures like Canada, USA, and the West in general have many problems stemming from our inability to clearly draw lines between right and wrong on many issues with large grey areas.

Euthanasia, especially in Canada, is one of these issues as is maiming the bodies of children based on extremely dubious—I would say completely crazy—psychological and moral reasoning. Elon Musk is having a similar problem with free speech on Twitter. He can’t figure out where to draw a line that actually does not need to be drawn.

To me, it is self-evident that irreparably maiming a child based on a crazy idea is morally wrong. So is killing a sad man or suggesting to him that he might be better off dead and we can help you with that. Musk’s dilemma is no less serious as billions of people and the future course of world civilization will be affected by his decision, which in my view is very clear: The correct algorithm to use on Twitter is Twitter users being allowed to say and view what they want.

Every culture struggles with moral issues. In the West, we have to do better. I have described two lines that can be drawn to protect children and adults from medical malpractice and one line that can be drawn to protect the world from people who want to control the speech of others. ABN

American Girl is accused of ‘stripping away all innocence’ in magazine that teaches kids how to change gender by taking puberty blockers and going behind parents’ backs to get ‘help’

The popular American Girl doll brand is facing backlash for pushing kids into changing their gender in a recent book marketed to young girls.

The recently released book, titled A Smart Girl’s Guide: Body Image, contains lines that give advice to prepubescents on how to change their gender – seemingly without their guardians’ blessing.

Parents have slammed the book’s contents as ‘deceptive and dangerous,’ citing the messages it is sending to this highly impressionable demographic.

The 96-page handbook – billed as a ‘guide’ – is marketed to girls aged 3 to 12, and instructs them on how to make permanent changes to their bodies, and to embrace that they may be unhappy in the bodies they were born with.

It is wrong to do this. It is morally repugnant to send this message to children. It is only a very weird kind of twisted “morality” that would permit this, or worse, think it up and do it. Maiming your body to conform to a fantasy is mental illness. Adults who allow or encourage this behavior in children are seriously ill. ABN

Musk wants to fact-check government officials. This is a good place to start…

Then add Drs McCullough, Malone, Cole, Rose, Yeadon, Vanden Bossche and many more. You definitely want outsiders who saw the scam early on and spoke the truth. I’d be happy to contribute to your morality and ethics panel by providing a Buddhist perspective on right and wrong. Like all of the above, I would also be happy to do the work for free. I am sure all of us see it as a duty, an obligation, and also an honor to contribute anything we can for the good of this world. ABN

Disabled Canadian Army veteran Paralympian blasts government for offering to EUTHANIZE her when she complained about how long it was taking to install stairlift at her home

…The expansion of Canada’s euthanasia laws, already among the most permissive on the planet, has raised concerns from some quarters.

One doctor told DailyMail.com that he is worried about the expansion, as it will turn suicide into a standard treatment for mental health conditions with little oversight or guidelines.

Dr Trudo Lemmens, University of Toronto professor of health law and policy, told DailyMail.com that the system might create an ‘obligation to introduce [suicide] as a part of’ mental health treatment.

‘Imagine that being applied in the context of mental health. You have a person suffering severe depression, seeks help from a therapist and is offered the solution of dying,’ he continued.

First Remdesivir WRONGFUL DEATH lawsuit filed in Nevada

The Sparks Family Hospital, Northern Nevada Medical center, doctors and individuals are named in the complaint

Reno Attorney Joey Gilbert and Las Vegas Attorney Sigal Chattah have filed the first Remdesivir wrongful death lawsuit (see below) in Nevada on behalf of the heir of a man who allegedly died from Remdesivir treatment for his COVID-19 diagnosis. The Sparks Family Hospital, Northern Nevada Medical center, doctors and individuals are named in the complaint. The plaintiff, in part, alleges the following:

  • Patient (now deceased) was prescribed Ivermectin and HCQ. Hospital staff were instructed that under no circumstances was patient to be administered Remdesivir (Veklury) for treatment of his symptoms.
  • Staff said that they would comply with patient’s requests but that he could not be given the HCQ or Ivermectin because it was against hospital protocols.
  • Doctor ordered Remdesivir despite objections.
  • Patient was given Remdesivir and died of renal and respiratory failure a week later.
  • Remdesivir is a dangerous, experimental drug
  • It is medically unethical, and a violation of Nevada laws, to administer an unnecessary medical treatment.
  • It is medically unethical, and a violation of Nevada laws, to administer a medical treatment without informed consent.

In October, attorneys representing 14 families have sued three California hospitals alleging wrongful death in the use of Remdesivir.

High school students perform in drag for ADULT staff at secret event held IN SCHOOL

It’s bad enough that drag performances for “families” are popping up all over the country with adults performing for children but a New Jersey High School has taken it to the next level – underage students performing in drag for adults.

On October 27th, Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, NJ did just that.  Student club P.U.L.S.E. (People Understanding Love Serves Everyone) led by faculty advisor Heather Baldwin, held a student-performed drag show on school property in secret.

The event was brought to the community’s attention three days later when an email was leaked to The New Jersey Project, an organization that advocates for parents’ rights in public schools, which wrote about the event on its blog, Chaos and Control.

Air Force loses vaccine religious exemptions case

A federal appeals court on Tuesday unanimously upheld an injunction prohibiting the U.S. Air Force from punishing or terminating service members with religious objections to the COVID-19 vaccine.

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the Air Force had “wrongly relied on its ‘broadly formulated’ reasons” for denying the requests of over 10,000 unvaccinated Air Force members who submitted a religious exemption to the U.S. military’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

According to a press release by the plaintiffs’ legal counsel, the court held that “the Plaintiffs have offered ‘significant proof ’— indeed, the evidence is undisputed — that the Air Force has a ‘uniform’ practice of denying religious exemptions to anyone who wants to remain in the service.”
