Background for understanding Ukraine and also the past in Eastern Europe and East of Europe

The Khazars[a] (/ˈxɑːzɑːrz/) were a semi-nomadic Turkic people that in the late 6th-century CE established a major commercial empire covering the southeastern section of modern European Russiasouthern UkraineCrimea, and Kazakhstan.[10] They created what for its duration was the most powerful polity to emerge from the break-up of the Western Turkic Khaganate.[11] Astride a major artery of commerce between Eastern Europe and Southwestern Asia, Khazaria became one of the foremost trading empires of the early medieval world, commanding the western marches of the Silk Road and playing a key commercial role as a crossroad between China, the Middle East and Kievan Rus’.[12][13] For some three centuries (c. 650–965) the Khazars dominated the vast area extending from the Volga-Don steppes to the eastern Crimea and the northern Caucasus.[14]

TWITTER, THE FBI SUBSIDIARY

2. The #TwitterFiles are revealing more every day about how the government collects, analyzes, and flags your social media content.

3. Twitter’s contact with the FBI was constant and pervasive, as if it were a subsidiary.

4. Between January 2020 and November 2022, there were over 150 emails between the FBI and former Twitter Trust and Safety chief Yoel Roth.

5. Some are mundane, like San Francisco agent Elvis Chan wishing Roth a Happy New Year along with a reminder to attend “our quarterly call next week.” Others are requests for information into Twitter users related to active investigations.

6. But a surprisingly high number are requests by the FBI for Twitter to take action on election misinformation, even involving joke tweets from low-follower accounts.

7. The FBI’s social media-focused task force, known as FTIF, created in the wake of the 2016 election, swelled to 80 agents and corresponded with Twitter to identify alleged foreign influence and election tampering of all kinds.

8. Federal intelligence and law enforcement reach into Twitter included the Department of Homeland Security, which partnered with security contractors and think tanks to pressure Twitter to moderate content.

9. It’s no secret the government analyzes bulk data for all sorts of purposes, everything from tracking terror suspects to making economic forecasts.

10. The #TwitterFiles show something new: agencies like the FBI and DHS regularly sending social media content to Twitter through multiple entry points, pre-flagged for moderation.

‘Yes, the CIA was involved in the Kennedy assassination’ ~ anonymous CIA insider

direct link

This is an OK report for slow-witted Americans. The guest says the material is being kept secret for only two possible reasons: 1) to protect CIA for not protecting JFK or 2) the CIA was actively involved. Then she mumbles some anodyne pabulum about how we need to have a reckoning, etc. But there are other possibilities, the most likely of which is another country was involved along with the CIA. Add JFK secrecy and untouchability to the other really big American thing that is completely untouchable and you probably have something much closer to what really happened, something which may take yet more years before it can even be mentioned, assuming this nation survives it. Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance:

ISTAR stands for intelligencesurveillancetarget acquisition, and reconnaissance. In its macroscopic sense, ISTAR is a practice that links several battlefield functions together to assist a combat force in employing its sensors and managing the information they gather.

Information is collected on the battlefield through systematic observation by deployed soldiers and a variety of electronic sensors. Surveillancetarget acquisition and reconnaissance are methods of obtaining this information. The information is then passed to intelligence personnel for analysis, and then to the commander and their staff for the formulation of battle plans. Intelligence is processed information that is relevant and contributes to an understanding of the ground, and of enemy dispositions and intents. Intelligence failures can happen.

UPDATE: This is a terrific interview. Everybody should watch it and learn from it. Macgregor is a very clear speaker and provides deep analysis and specific suggestions. Vlahos talks like an academic, which he is, but at 1:59:40, he describes the American elite and our problem with it perfectly, thereby describing the core of American decline which is near-irreversible and entirely due to that elite which he says has built a “…hermetic, separate political system. Something far less sensitive to the people even than British society in the mid-18th Century, which no one would argue was a democracy.” In what is now normal American parlance, both men speak in code about our elite by entirely ignoring how they got there, who they are, and what their long-term goals are. Kim Dotcom on the Twitter revelations

🧵 Twitter files Part 2 🧵

Here are my views about the recent revelations. First of all I’m glad this information is now available to the public and I’m angry because of what was done to censor and control public discourse about important issues like corruption and Govt crimes.

Twitter has become a spy agency and a censorship tool for the deep state in collusion with the Democratic Party. The same is happening at every big tech company today. They limit political speech as well as leaks about crimes and corruption by the Government and politicians.

The Democratic Party has surrendered to the power of the deep state, a group of spy chiefs and corporate elites in the war and security business and their vast network of protected billionaire associates who control the media and big tech. Dems chose this path to remain in power.

Monopolistic big tech companies have surrendered to the deep state and partnered with the Democratic Party to keep their monopolies going. When was the last time any of them was broken up because they accumulated too much power? Tech billionaires love a seat at the power table.

This silencing and manipulation has completely destroyed democracy. Not just opinions are being manipulated but the devices that count our votes. The deep state can turn every cell phone into an open mic and backdoor any PC. What do you think they can do to voting machines?

This is the biggest criminal conspiracy in history. Spy agencies are now running the show. Their budgets and powers are increasing every year. They spy on all of us and have dirt on everyone. Politicians who don’t work with them have no future. They are removed by scandal, etc.

The World According to Mike Pence

We can stop there and finish by observing that nothing in this book contradicts what we’ve learned over these two years, namely that Mike Pence served as both a carrier pigeon and protecting veil for the national security state that took over the country in March 2020. It was he who gave the okay to Birx’s subversions. It was he who assisted in convincing Trump of the lockdowns. It was he who pushed the panic that led to massive spending, overpurchases of masks and ventilators, he who pushed for the deployment of the Defense Production Act, and he who sent the Navy hospital ship to New York that went unused. And he not only defends all his actions but implies that they were all blessed by God. ~ JEFFREY A. TUCKER

quote from Tucker’s review of Pence’s book

The whole review is well-worth reading. If you have any doubt that Pence is a self-righteous back-stabbing DS tool, this review is a must read. ABN

The United States Dept of Homeland Security is the operating system running in the background of Twitter

To put it in brutally honest terms, The United States Dept of Homeland Security is the operating system running in the background of Twitter.

You can debate whether Elon Musk honestly didn’t know all this before purchasing Twitter from his good friend Jack Dorsey, and/or what the scenario of owner/operator motive actually is.  Decide for yourself.

For me, I feel confident that all of the conflicting and odd datapoints only reconcile in one direction.  DHS, via CISA, controls Twitter.

Wittingly or unwittingly (you decide) Elon Musk is now the face of that govt controlled enterprise.

If you concur with my researched assessment, then what you see being released by Elon Musk in the Twitter Files is actually a filtered outcome as a result of this new ownership dynamic.  And with that intelligence framework solidly in mind, I warn readers not to take a position on the motive of the new ownership.

Put simply, DHS stakeholders, to include the DOJ, FBI and Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), are mitigating public exposure of their domestic surveillance activity by controlling and feeding selected information about their prior Twitter operations.

If TikTok is a national security threat, then TikTok is to Beijing as Twitter is to Washington DC.

The larger objective of U.S. involvement in social media has always been monitoring and surveillance of the public conversation, and then ultimately controlling and influencing public opinion.

‘The inmates were running the asylum’: Elon Musk calls out former safety czar Yoel Roth and confirms right-wing accounts were suspended when ‘NO rules were broken’ after bombshell Twitter Files exposed ‘Soviet-level’ censorship

  • Elon Musk on Thursday revealed that multiple Twitter accounts run by conservatives were censored despite not breaking any of their rules
  • Musk, who bought site in October,  vowed to make the social media company more transparent after the release of the second tranche of Twitter Files
  • He said they were ‘working on a software update that will show your true account status, so you know clearly if you’ve been shadow banned’ and why
  • Musk pointed to the reporting of Bari Weiss, who on Thursday released internal documents and Slack messages showing the scale of censorship
  • Weiss reported that conservative commentators such as Dan Bongino and Charlie Kirk had their accounts deliberately downplayed

Elon, this is what happens when you limit reach. Also, there is no reason to limit reach because Twitter users will sift wheat from chaff better than any administrator or any algorithm. Limiting reach is just another word for censorship. ABN

THREAD: THE TWITTER FILES PART TWO

TWITTER’S SECRET BLACKLISTS.

1. A new #TwitterFiles investigation reveals that teams of Twitter employees build blacklists, prevent disfavored tweets from trending, and actively limit the visibility of entire accounts or even trending topics—all in secret, without informing users.

2. Twitter once had a mission “to give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers.” Along the way, barriers nevertheless were erected.

3. Take, for example, Stanford’s Dr. Jay Bhattacharya (@DrJBhattacharya) who argued that Covid lockdowns would harm children. Twitter secretly placed him on a “Trends Blacklist,” which prevented his tweets from trending.

Raw tribal emotions

Raw emotions of ethnic and religious difference boil over sometimes. These displays of emotion are fundamental to human nature. Even when you train them away through “education,” you only end up with more of the same.

PC culture was the result of anti-tribal education in schools. Yet it succeeded only in producing another “tribe.” This one rigidly organized around non-negotiable PC ideals.

If you question those ideals you are an enemy of that tribe.

The PC tribe is not centered on the signs and symbols of ethnicity. Rather, it is centered on a tribal use of the neocortex, where we process the semiotics of allegiance to a group.

The intolerance of PC culture and the violence of its bastard child Antifa show how powerful and irreducible tribal emotions can be.

Ashley Judd’s diatribe and the pink pussy hats that appeared after the election are another example of the raw emotions of tribal allegiance. Note the pink hats as semiotic identifiers.

You have to be intelligent to overcome a tribe, maybe in the top 10-20 percent of any population. But then, how do you deal with the other 80 percent?

Should you lead them?

No, you really shouldn’t and certainly not without their input. An ideological tribe is unstable and often capable of even worse violence than an ethnic tribe.

Example one: Communism, which shows how low human nature can be across many different cultures.

Example two: Our sorry intellectual “leaders” in academia who have led American society nowhere good.

Indeed, academia has “succeeded” mostly in forming only one thing—a $elf-aggrandizing tribe of its own, which is overwhelmingly leftist and intolerant of anyone who dares disagree.

Academia, of course, acts as backup to our equally tribal media and political elite.

Only a recluse can escape tribal reality. Only fools play “intellectual” games with it.

‘The evidence is overwhelming that the US Security State is heavily involved in pressuring Big Tech to censor’ ~ Glenn Greenwald

It's a bit difficult to maintain the US Security State had no role in Twitter's censorship regime when *the General Counsel of the FBI* – centrally involved in Russiagate and all sorts of politicized abuses – ended up as Twitter's Deputy General Counsel, with paws in everything.

Barely a month ago, @lhfang and @kenklippenstein published a batch of previously secret documents proving how centrally involved DHS is in Big Tech's censorship schemes. @yoyoel admitted he met with them and FBI weekly. None of this it in doubt.

Leaked Documents Outline DHS’s Plans to Police Disinformation

Whenever Congress seeks to limit Big Tech's monopoly and censorship powers, all the same US Security State goons who spread the "Russian disinformation" lie about the Biden docs vocally object, because online censorship is one of their key weapons:

https://greenwald.substack.com/p/former-intelligence-officials-citing

By now, the evidence is overwhelming that the US Security State is heavily involved in pressuring Big Tech to censor.

Zuckerberg said this. Twitter execs admitted it. Tons of documents prove it. Only liberal journalists and Dem functionaries try to put this in doubt.

Chinese-American nonprofit that branded a Republican congresswoman’s tough-on-China campaign ads “racist” has extensive ties to Chinese Communist Party

The Chinese-American nonprofit that branded a Republican congresswoman’s tough-on-China campaign ads “racist” has extensive ties to Chinese Communist Party influence groups and Beijing-backed companies through its members, staff, and former leaders, a Washington Free Beacon investigation found.

In late October, with the 2022 midterms just two weeks away, the Committee of 100—a nonprofit that works to “advance U.S.-China relations”—issued a statement condemning China-related campaign ads from California Republican Michelle Steel. Those ads, which the committee said included “racist attacks” that encouraged “anti-Asian hate and violence,” criticized Democrat challenger Jay Chen’s past support for the Confucius Classroom program, a CCP-run initiative that provides American K-12 schools with Beijing-backed teachers and curriculum materials.

The committee’s decision to wade into the race—a rare one, given that the nonprofit usually avoids electoral politics in favor of commenting on academic research, legislative developments, and federal appointments—sparked attention from mainstream media outlets and liberal groups. Within days of its release, NPR, the Los Angeles Times, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee used the statement to declare that the Asian-American community had turned on Steel, with the Times and NPR innocuously describing the Committee of 100 as “a New York-based nonprofit led by prominent Chinese Americans” and a group that “represents Chinese Americans.” Those descriptions, however, ignore the fact that many of the nonprofit’s members, staff, and former leaders have extensive ties to CCP-controlled groups and Chinese state-backed companies—ties that have led some China experts to assert that the committee is a crucial target for the CCP’s foreign influence efforts.
